JBP VVT LE5 Camshafts

I see that it went unanswered, I do know that the intake cam is the more aggressive of the two, and it runs lean at lower engine points, the car was shown to run way rich in the upper rpm band, so yes, I need to get into the hpt, Rod is working on that for me. Hoe rich? on haneys crappy dyno he said " 30whp, could be had out of the tune so on a functioning dyno probly more
as i have said before...with just a intake and exhaust the PCM doesnt add sufficient fuel and runs VERY lean

Even thoiugh we all have 2.4s I have learned that are gm tunes are not all equal, mine showed lean at points and VERY rich in others

eh, a little rich is nice, have that power when you want it, but it also sucks for gas mileage. But hey, when you want a mid-13 second car, you kinda put up with shitty gas mileage
I've been too busy to reread posts, has anyone answered my question on wether or not these are boost friendly? I really want to go turbo soon and if I pop the cash for this and then have to redo everything, it will be the end of me. PM me if anyone has any info, I dont want to get this thread sidetracked

i am betting they have some overlap as they seem to be fairly aggressive and they are regrinds. overlap is not a good idea for boost as you will loose some pressure out the exhaust side. just wait for that turbo lol i know its hard.

Nice. I saw a fox body at the local street meet friday night, purging away like crazy. We've also got twin red srt4's (the twin devils) that purge all the time. Not to mention the 350 HR skyline motor swapped G35. ******* sweet.

Everyone saying they are running lean, anyone have a wideband?
with just bolt-ons and stock tune i read lean in only one area, 3k-4k rpms 14.1AFR, by 4k its too rich for n/a 12.9AFR.
of course i have this corrected now, im wondering if anyone else has these same results or if its just speculation...

As to your first bit of "info" u are completely wrong, the richer that worse power and performance you make..lol unless u are driving a diesel??? :P Leaner is alwasy meaner, although it increases your chance to detonate.
On to your second question anything is able to be turboed...lol but U need to find someone who can actually tune your car with a standalone, not a POS picky-back. I have seen a friend from team-integra.net make 600whp on a booste B18c, which is only 1.8 litre. That was with completly stock internals. He is still driving his car, no probs...This just goes to show that with an actual tune you should not have a problem...but no piggy-backs....
PS G5Mike thanks for th invite to the site ! I hope your ride turns out good after teh dyno...and possible tune?! lol We will have to meet up one of these days !

you don't need a standalone to go turbo...an safc type crap is a nono, but sct is coming out with something for your car and they are very good. EVERYONE with forced induction on the 4.0's is using sct and nobody has had tuning problems...hell one of the guys on the 4.0 collective forums is making over 400rwhp on stock internals using an sct Xcal II flash tuner. that car is his daily driver too... there are multiple guys over there running almost twice the stock power with reflashes not standalone. piggybacks can be crap, so you are right on that point, but flash tuners are not bad and less expensive than stand alone units.

Ominus has it right, they said"my car is runnin too rich and this hurts performance, so you need to lean it out,of course doing so you run risks, which is why doing a "valvetrain" job never hurts....Rod and I first have to resolve this HPT issue than I can schedule an appointment
#594
Well acutally rich does hurt performance.....but like I said with a good tune using eprom, or other burnt chips or even with Standalone, you should not have this problem. Turbo...well yes u can run a little rich and most ppl do. But to maximise performance then u want to be leaner.

I kinda agree to you here...but u are missing my most important piece of information...With a really good tune it wont make your engine brake quicker, if anything proper tune + lean means you wont have carbon deposites in your headers or exhaust ports nor will your cylinder get plug up with carbon/oil....Which is a big bonus.
Rich is fine if u are doing the tune yourself and have no idea what you are doing...But I for one expect the absolute f!cking best for my money and if I get a car tuned its gonna get done right, including individual cylinder tuning, and plenum to runner length to be optimized.

I am using HPT, not a stand alone. As for running rich, I'm testing my own theories and if I notice a gain, I use what I've done. I will be going turbo much sooner than I thought, maybe even before June. 8cd03gro, please pm since you know something of turbos. I'm requesting your's and NJHK's help in my selection of a turbo, wastegate, and BOV.
