all mods are illegal lol?? i live in montreal, i have friends that have heavily modded supras and r32 gt-r....etc, they only get stopped for "random" checks, they dont care too much about mods here. in ontario thats a different story

in most places, i know youre in canada, but here in oklahoma ANY modification to the stock exhaust is illegal. so even if they don't hear it and just see its not stock, they CAN give you a ticket. but most times they only do that if its just obnoxiously loud or just sounds terrible

not a good idea, you said the cop pulled you over because he could see straight through the muffler, and thats how he said he knew it was illegal(bullshit on his part IMO), he cant see straight through the muffler with the silencer on...

that one is different being that it meets certain standards and is 50 state legal, iirc. many manufacturers do not have their systems CARB certified or meet the standards for all states especially cali....cause after market exhausts cause birth defects . but ebay mufflers like his, and mine are not 50 state legal and are more than likely zero state legal. so, if infact i do get pulled over. all i can really do is beg for him to give me a "fix it" ticket and weld the stock one back on.
however, as i was saying, unless its obnoxiously loud or the cop is just a dick that day...you more than likely won't get pulled over.
but to the op. ...you're a 2.2, if you really want sound get a legal (for ) catback, not just a muffler. at this point you're pretty much screwed and all you can do is plead at court and say that you'll take it off and pay the fine but ask very nicely to not have points on your license. lawyer is not worth it.
improper opening of vehicle door....? wtf is that? hahaha

tell that to California when they don't pass you for emissions/db level. It's partially for emissons and I realize it's mostly for sound but most states will nail you for not having a muffler installed.
He most likely got pulled over for the angry hornets nest sound.

The HTA doesnt exactly state that your exhaust is illegal, but the loudness ids up to the discretion of the officer.
