haha, its like i said before, i dont plan on keeping up with it, it was taking a ride in it that made me feel like grabbing more power. on that note, what have you all got to say about performance chips?

the oil on the filter can be aproblem, i saw a horrible gas mileage increase (i was burning more fuel then my dad's corvette durning the winter) due to the fact that the oil from the filter gets on your maf and your sensors get fucked up. solution is buying some maf cleaner and problem solved

gas mileage increase would be good..did i miss something? cuz mine went from 26 city to 29 city by switching to the k&n.. i can almost get it to 30.

i think the GMPP uses a dry filter also. Dry filter is the way to go. it wont void your warrenty also

getting oil on the MAF can do very bad thing, even worse on FI cars.

Injen intake uses the same filter as K&N. Injen was the very first ever dyno proven intake. You can get polished or black. I put mine on my ss/sc and never got a cel what so ever. Just putting this info out ther but like others say intake is an intake.

err... if the K&N really leaks oil then thats a problem...

so ive done some more digging around, and what ever I do, Im gonna stick an AEM dryflow filter on there. I may aswell just go with the gmpp part so I dont hurt my warranty. I know k&n promised like a 16hp gain from theres, does anyone know what the gain will be on the gmpp one (once its **** filter is replaced with a dryflow)?

do you guys really think that K&N put that much more thought in to there intake? come on they are all the same, just some tubes with a filter on the end... doesnt matter if it was amde for the 2.4 or 2.2

and yes im all about GMPP keeps my stealer ship happy, makes my car nicer and no warrenty worries

The aluminum tube on the K&N is textured........so it would be a bitch and a half to strip and polish.

and you pay more out of your wallet for it!

warranty means ****, KN has a backed gaurantee for my intake, so GM's warranty control can go put that up their ass

its not the intakes warranty im worried about, its the car i know the whole bs they have to prove the mod broke the part but to me, its well worth to not even have to deal with that and stick with the GMPP, to me its worth the extra money

go K&N

i have seen all kinds of short rams on cobalts here in town... here is what i have to say

K&N (what i got)
SUPER loud compared to other short rams listed below
HELD IN PLACE by heat shield (does not BOUNCE around hitting hood or bumper)
HEAT SHIELD does help out a little by keeping a little compartment of cool(er) air than the engine bay.

Injen
smashed pipe right before the TB, restricts airflow.
rubs against the hood and front bumper clip

Weapon R
rubs against the hood and front bumper clip.

Autozone piping
plastic melts....

Fujita
bounces around hitting hood and front bumper clip..
uses the factory black box (UGLY!)

IN conclusion..

K&N, sometimes actually cheaper than the others, for no crimps, no harsh bends, no smashed pipe, heat shield, big filter, no harsh objects inside, all the welds are grinded down... K&N is THE best SRI. period.

err... the gm one is pretty well the same deal though no? i know it has the heat shield, and im pretty sure they have one thats actually made for the 2.4 now... I know that no matter what I do, Im going with an AEM dryflow filter, but I can throw that on anything, and Ive also decided to stick with an SRI
