K&N Typhoon installed on 2007 2.4L

Installation of the K&N Typhoon was very easy.... removing the standard air box was the hardest part since I don't have a lot of metric tools. The removal and install took maybe an hour total as I had numerous interuptions while I was working.

You do NOT have to remove the "air silencer" which is inside the wheel well panel and behind the passenger side headlight!

The "Drive" test: Throttle response is improved. When you go WOT, everyone HEARS IT!... great big low growl that gets louder as the engine winds up. Accelleration improved.... the 55MPH "passing" accelleration is awesome as the automatic transmission kicks down on WOT and the engine wails as it winds up heading to 80 MPH!

You gotta realize though, that all engines respond differently to modifications. The 2.2 and the 2.4, while very similiar, may very well respond entirely different to an intake in terms of hp/tq gains. It all depends on how the engine is tuned from the factory. Some engines just respond better to certain power adders.

I LOVE my Typhoon. Seriously, when accellerating he is right, EVERYONE hears it. I've been asked if I have an exhaust installed. The gain is quite noticeable, but don't know the actual numbers yet. I'd like to see how this thing effects the 2.4

Can't wait to see the dyno #'s, and I DO recommend this intake for anyone.

If you have a 2.4SS I say the K&N. I have the AEM 2.2 CAI on my 2.4SS and I plan on switching to the K&N simply b/c its the only large name intake designed specifically for the 2.4SS. You can use a 2.2 intake, such as the Injen and AEM, but you'll likely get the best results and the least amount (if any) of CEL's with the K&N. Since I plan on doing my injector swap + tuning w/ HP Tuners soon, I want to change my intake over to one designed specifically for my car for the best results possible.

The GMPP intake works well with the 2.4 also, but its kinda a more toned down "mild" version of the K&N, as the K&N features a more open filter design.

I think the 2.4 just gets more power gain from a lower restriction intake because it's a larger displacement engine and has more aggressive valve timing on the top end via the VVT. The intake for the 2.4 says it weighs 1 pound more though, so maybe it has bigger tube. (Honestly probably a typo though...the tubes is epoxy coated cast aluminum..doesn't weigh much)

That said, I've had mine on for 2 days now..no codes and I'm liking it. Exhaust to come next week.

teehee at avoiding your warranty ...
hehe nope no intake will void your warranty, unless it uses an oil filter and fuxorz your maf sensor.. and even then the sensor would be the only thing that might not be covered...

as far as how long the 2.4s last.. who knows they're only really been out since 2006 so your guess is as good as mine.. however given you do proper maintenance and all any car should last till 150K or more.. hell thats why they have a 10yr 100000 mile warranty.. they wouldn't warranty it for that long if they didn't expect to have it last that long

your warranty is not one whole package...each part is warrantied. So if you install a CAI, your stock intake system and manifold is not covered under warranty (unless you swap the parts back and dont let the dealer know hehe)

They just started shipping early this week, so I doubt any of our customers have installed and dyno'd yet. It will be a few weeks I bet til we see anyone actually dyno themselves.
