Ordering mine later this month!

Ditching the AEM 2.2 intake for an intake actually designed for my car........thought it'd be a wise idea before I do my injector swap and have it all tuned w/ HP Tuners.

btw, JRanger already has dibbs on the AEM.

It just is. While the 2.2 and 2.4 are very similar in numerous ways, the fact stands, they aren't the same motor. While a lot of people will say stuff like "an intake is an intake", they are wrong. Large name manufactuers such as AEM, K&N, Injen and Fujita air tune their intakes specifically for the cars they are going on. Hence why you see Injen saying "the first tuned intake system" in their magazine ads. AEM/Fujita/K&N have since starting tuning their intakes more directly to get better results. While my AEM wasn't exactly bad for my car, I'm sure I wasn't get optimal performance out out my engine w/ it. It would occasionally throw a CEL, which an intake designed for a specific car shouldn't do. But I don't have the specific car it was designed for, so I expected the CEL. Why else would K&N take the time and effort to design a 2.4 specific intake when they offer the 2.2 intake already? They surely aren't doing it as a scheme to make extra money......K&N is loaded and practically owns the large scale intake/filter market. Also, you'll notice the tubing is slightly larger and the intake tract is a bit shorter on the 2.4 intake than the 2.2 intake. I'm sure K&N did it for a reason, as they have been designing intakes for all walks of cars/trucks/any thing else that has an engine for years.

That being said, I also want to switch to a SRI anyways b/c I live down a dirt road and I have to clean my filter a lot. A SRI makes that task much easier. And I've heard SRI's create better throttle response, which is something I wouldn't mind having. Sure, SRI's suffer more from heat soak on long drives, but its not like I race my Cobalt in endurance races anyways, lol.

15.94 HP gain @ 5900 RPM - Practical driving result!

The dyno chart at http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-4517.pdf shows the advertised gain is at 5900 RPM! What does that mean to those driving on the road?.... well if you are running 55 mph with your 2.4L NA SS Automatic and need to pass or acellerate, when you go WOT, the transmission shifts down into second gear and you are in the top portion of the power band where the biggest gains are until it upshifts into third at 70 plus MPH!

Remember that the Ion needs a differnt MAF housing to work. Otherwise we will get a CEL. Thats why I got the Injen

i think it's a slight turbulence issue but i'm not sure .. could be possible .. however if you have an interceptor gauge you can clear and read codes so why not haha

I'm interested with this for my 2.4, can you match the price of muscleexhaust? How much is your delivery in Ontario, Canada?
Did you change you price from 239 to 259 now?

I will go and have my car dyno'd fri and Then I will have the difference from the AEM intake I had on and see what the difference is I won't have the dyno w/stock intake. I'm just curious what will be seen between these two intakes.

I posted earlier K&N did use my car and that was the gain they claimed when I went to pick up my car back in feb the guys wouldn't tell me the gain because it wasn't something they announce until the intake goes into production but they did say it was a good gain they don't let much out that early in the game. like my earlier post The only difference I can come up with will be the difference from AEM and K&N. Since I didn't do a base dyno before AEM gave me the intake because they also used my car. So as soon as I can get to my storage and shoot a pic I will have an AEM 2.4 intake up for sale

oiled filters have a bad rep.... the issue is, if there is way too much oil, it can come off and splatter the MAF. i've used oiled filters for years, never had any issue.
