LHU/LNF swap?

So been doing some looking around for different options as I love my cobalt and the fact that its an automatic... However if the choice were mine, I would have a SC or TC with an Auto however as well all know, wasn't made. Considered a SC or TC kit on mine but it has almost 100k miles and I will be driving 20k+ miles a year for the next couple years so I dont really want to dump money into the current engine, leading me to my questions...

Has anyone swapped or looked into the crate engine package offered by ZZP?

There is an option on there for "LHU engine/Auto trans set up w/ flex plate"

Other than needing a downpipe, is there anything else that would be needed to make that swap?

Issues or has anyone else done a LNF swap into their NA?

Issues with the Auto holding up?

If I do the swap the engine would be left mostly stock and I would put a ZZP downpipe in and have them tune it since they are only about 15 minutes from my house.

what do you guys think? concerns I should have? Car is an '06 LE5.

I would prefer new opposed to getting a junk yard build and new 2.4's look like they run $2700+ and a SC kit or TC bolt on kit runs about $3k so thinking this total LNF swap may be the way to go at $3500.

Thanks!!!

Where did you find a wrecked LNF for 3500? You literally need to swap EVERYTHING for it to work, or a trifecta/HPT tune to run the E69 as a standalone. One guy on here did it, I think he's the only one ever. I would highly suggest to get a turbo kit and just rebuild an engine on the side until yours blows or get the ZZP engine.

Stick with the 2.4.

Get the turbo kit and just be easy on it. When funds allow get a lower mileage used motor and go all out on it...port head, get rods and pistons, valve springs.

I have the same car as you, except a 5 speed. i have 160K miles on it and the motor is still very stong, IMO i would mod the motor that is in the car now, and as you can, start to build another on the side. buy all your supporting mods like a catback, suspension, mounts, and get it ready, you could buy a Turbo mani and the piping with a cheap small turbo, then when it comes time for the built motor you can upgrade the turbo and the tune.

In case anyone else looks at this and wonders the same thing about the ZZP crate engine...

They said they weren't 100% sure it would bolt right in, but it would probably require alot of fabricating/modification. Guessing the engine is more for a sky or solstice then if you select the automatic option on their site!
