LNF cams

I found a post I thought was interesting and might help the people who are running turbo setups on their LE5.

The only difference is the timing;

'06 L61 116 Intake, -103 Exhaust
'06 LSJ 100 Intake, -115 Exhaust

2007 L61 intake cams are not interchangeable with any other ecotec cams.
2007 L61 exhaust cams are interchangeable backwards to a previous model year L61 or LSJ

LNF and LE5 exhaust cams are interchangeable with each other but not with any other ecotec cams.

All LSJ cams are interchangeable.

Thanks,
JBP
If the cams are interchangeable, this might be an alternative from doing a custom regrind. Also does this mean that any aftermarket cams for the LNF will work too?

Thoughts on this?

Exhaust cam's are interchangeable, that does not mean the intake one's are.

i dont know, the LNF is going to have a gear on one of the cams to run the injection pump.

Which will be the intake most likely.

thats the down side I don't think the intake cam is interchangeable. But if it is the guys with turbo might see some decent gains.

The intake cam on the LE5 is more agressive then the LNF intake cam, but is not swappable.

The exhaust cam on the LNF is more aggressive then the LE5 exhaust cam and IS swappable.

So the LE5 guys can use the LE5 intake cam with the exhaust LNF cam and have most aggressive factory cam setup possible, but this will only work in the LE5.

If you can find adjustable cam gears that fit the cams, you could greatly increase your numbers by changing the amount of overlap the cams see.

I do have a question though, is it safe to just swap one cam? I wouldn't want anyone to damage their engine now.

Won't do any damage unless you can't time it properly.

I never heard of anyone just swapping one cam on a DOHC engine so I wasn't sure.

This is a DOHC motor. You can adjust cam overlap with adjustable cam gears.

it's swappable for any 2.4 however.. it wont be a good grind if you're sc'ed will it work? yes.. will it give some gains.. probably... but it wouldn't be optimal
