maf issue?

I've gotten a code for lean/rich engine conditions. Recently I unplugged the maf and noticed no difference, the car ran essentially the same.

Is that a wiring issue or is it time for a new maf?

Code numbers please.

Take it out and spray it down with cleaner.

Could be other things like a vac leak maybe?

Already cleaned it. I think it was p1174.

There should be some sort of difference when I unplug it though, no? It used yo stall when I unplugged.

Yeah it's p1174, that said though I feleted it a while back and it hasn't come back on. On a note I took it for a test drive today without maf hooked up and I noyiced no difference.

Awesome - okay.

That said though, if I understand my car at ALL it shoudl NOT run the same without the MAF plugged in.

If so - why do the cars have one in the first place? LOL

So I guess to make this simple, we'll have two questions.

1) Do I have a MAF issue? Car runs the same with/without MAF plugged in.
2) P1174 - is there any easy way to check to see if my car is running lean/rich? This code pops up once in a while, but only once in a while.
