Might buy a new M62, need some advice.
A friend of my uncle's said he'd be willing to sell his ported M62 with 50k miles, machined snout for a 2.5" pulley, and a mounted 2.7" pulley on the modular system for $380.
Does this sound like a good deal?

That M62 is COMPLETELY ruined, you wont even make boost with that. The reason for the V shape on the stock case is to allow the air to be slightly compressed before leaving the case, rotor timing is critical in relation to the opening on the blower case. That is a classic HACK JOB as we call it.
This is what a proper port job looks like, even though it was on my old M45.
blower outlet has been opened by only 1/8th of an inch and sanded and polished smooth with the correct outlet angle inside the case.

porting a supercharger is precision stuff, ive even seen stiegemeier do some pretty butchered work on some M112 blowers before. like i said that rotor timing is critical in order to maintain proper boost pressure. There isnt all that much you can do to a stock M62 blower case besides clean up work to make them that much better, the single biggest improvement you can make is having the silencer ports (openings prior to the outlet) welded shut, but even then you risk warping the case from the heat of the TIG welding. The silencer ports relieve pressure prior to the air hitting the outlet to reduce overall noise. Ive heard them with them shut before on grand prix's and they ****** SCREAM.

i am that said individual that performed the hack job that you all say will make no boost explain to me then how that m-62 charger made 23lbs constant boost on my 2.0 stock internals but raced out head.

Hey Jacob, these guys are telling you that you have jacked up M62. Honestly, that's exactly how I ran it since day 1. Over 85k miles on it like that. I never knew that it wasn't supposed to look like that as that was the first M62 I've ever seen. I can dig up who I bought it from...I don't know what else to tell you?

Ultimately its the OP's choice on what he wants to do, no one in here is trying to sell him on anything, just trying to steer him away from getting scammed. If he wants to spend the 300 bucks and give it a shot, by all means, but ive been down this road before. If cutting a gaping hole in the bottom of your supercharger case made it perform leaps and bounds better then stock, everyone would be doing it with a angle grinder.
