I read the governor thing on the Car&Driver spec sheet, it claims 118mph there, but I know I've broken that in a 2.4L Auto(Metric dash, if it makes any difference). You won't hit that in the quarter anyway, so I'll back the keep it safe lecture Almost anyone tries to bury the speedo in a new car at least once though.

Is it a coincidence that the OPs top speed is identical to what C&D claims?

Maybe it has to do with the transmission? The 5 speeds coupes can definitly do 130 mph.

DAMN IT ALL.

Just read the thread talking about 91 vs 87.

My friend has been running 87.

I'll get him to try again with 91 this weekend and let you guys know

Itll do 120 firm flat ground. 125 on a decline. The governer has been lifted to 170mph for over a year now. And I never hold back. 4th gear takes me to 125 downhill. 5th gear just makes me go slower or just sit still.

My friend did some more testing with his ShiftPlus and 91 octane.

It topped around 196kph in "I" gear (hit rev limiter). The trick seems to be just about when it's going to hit the rev limit in 3rd, to put it into D, and it should be able to keep pulling (abit slower)

I think the top speed of the night was 122mph, and would have been faster had he been on a longer road.

Stock the limiter on my was 130.

You can hit 140 with a 5M...once you have better than stock tires, and a TON of ******* road.

And I mean a TON of road

I've gotten to 125 pretty easily in mine but I backed off(mine is tuned). It made me too nervous. Don't know if it was fear of dying or being arrested, probably both. I read somewhere that they top out at 137 I think.

For ***** and giggles. Why do you even need to go faster than the posted speed limit? Same reason.

Does anyone make a tune for the SS Sedan to remove the limiter? What about some sort of piggyback chip?
If your friend were to be in I, youd notice he'd be at the full rpm, only when he shifts into Drive will you be at the 4500ish.

Ive got a SS Sedan as well, and my limiter is at...i dont know. but ive gotten it to 150 and it took me no time at all to get there.

i think 60-120 is about 10sec.

Speed limited in the E67 ECU by stock / factory tire speed rating..... you don't want the tires to fail at excess speed. If you have P6s, the ECU limits at 130 MPH.

I hit 142 on stock tune, stock tired 2.4 auto. Slight downhill grade at the end of a long straight. Gtech Pro RR measured. Cold tire inflation @ 38 psi. Slight to average uphill grade measured by highway patrol on stock tune at 130-135. Cold tire inflation @ 37 psi. He couldn't get a steady read on me. I think it was because I was weaving in and out of cars? whoops?? These are both before removing speed limiter that is set at 129.

he must have the automatic because i have the 2.4L on my G5 GT and i havt even topped it yet. So far i took it upto 130MPH and that was before the tune i had done too it. All it had on it then was the GM Performance intake on it.

140 MPH limit stock SS with manual transmission.... again manufacturer's limitation based upon speed rating of stock tires. IDK why there's a 10 MPH difference between the manual and auto trans.

I'll back up the 130, although I thought I may have read 131 in my 07 1SS Coupe manual.

Steady 4800rpm, fifth gear. Held that speed through a valley both on the downhill and uphill sections.

hey usmcfieldmp, how did you know that you went to 162 mph? the ss/sc speedo only goes to 160 haha. stock does the ss/sc have a speed limiter? ive gotten up to 143 when i was stock and havent gone over 100 (top out 3rd) since. going that fast is cool like once. then once you cool down you realize how dumb of a move that was, hence you dont do it again.

Here's the run where I hit 142. Not bad in 30 seconds. Obiously some nice long sloping downhill action near the end of the run. I still don't know how I hit 142 on a 129 stock limiter though. The e67 is one strange bugger to tune so I guess that explains it. I don't know where you people are getting your limiter numbers. Have any of you tuned the stock computer with hptuners or efilive or lsedit and actually seen what the stock limiter is set at or are you just guessing? I think you are just guessing.
