NA performance help

Hello all i habe got a 2008 cobalt sport 2.4 5 speed coupe. I have read a lot of thease threads and i fell confident in all your combined knowladge. My mission is to get north of 200 hp w/o a power adder or forced induction. I want to maintain feul eficiency and reliability with power like a stock ss/sc. I would like to hear from you guys to get some ideas on what to do and what parts are out there that i dont know abou yet. Im new to the small car thing used to build mustangs so i need some help here these cars seem very different.

Intake, header, hi-flow cat, straight thru style muffler, 2.5 inch pipe, port match the header to the gasket for the head and do the same for the intake. Wait for RELIABLE tuning to come out and you'll be at your mark.

you don't need either.

basic bolt on's with some special attention and a solid tune will get you there.

yeah that is a very reasonable goal. I for example but down 159whp stock. so with intake, header, catback (no larger then 2.5'') and toss in a cam with a good tune (when HPtuners comes out if it does) and you will hit 200whp easy. Even if you just get P&P heads from JBP then you should be in the 200whp range.

Full bolt on's, just cams and a tune will net you 200+

I just have I/H/HFC/E and a tune and laid down 186 whp on a mustang dyno

thanks guys i see a lot of people use hpt. and where can i get motor and trany mounts. You see i dont plan on taking it to the track or anything its just my everday driver that i want more out of. First 4 banger Ive ever owned had to go american and i love the car it is a lot of fun on the twisties. Most of my driving is done in west virginia and about 99% of the roads are like that so i may even do some suspension and wheel/tire stuff eventually. Oh and where can i get a cam. sorry i cant reply to all you individually i stay pretty busy with work ya know. i kinda got 3 jobs. But seriosly guys thanks for the help you dudes rock!!

JBP has the cam, http://www.jbodyperformance.com/new/...catName=JP0990

suspension would say get Koni Yellow shocks and the spring of your choice. (shop around for those to get the best price)

brakes are whatever you think you will need

look at the Turbo Tech Racing rear sway bar. http://www.turbotechracing.com/produ...idproduct=5148

besides tuning what would you have to do for the cam install?

damn dunkin. you must just be nailing your 60's. my brother stock has hit a 15.9 which down there would be roughly a 14.9 due to elevation changes.

JBP engines are more for boost or spray. (they lower compression) But I am sure if you are willing to talk it out with them they maybe able to work with you on a build. but you better have the money. I am looking possibly getting their Stage 2 heads with a cam on down the road; or at least the P&P heads.

the price on there site was under 3 gs which sounded pretty cheap i just wandered if that was for just a block or a complete engine. I have priced 331 strokers from dss and the complete package was over $7000 dollers for 400-500 na hp if i can get a whole engine for 3-4k that is the way to go takes out all the guess work. i might do that after the warrenty runs out by then i will have another car to fool with.

I think you get the whole thing but i could be wrong. like i know their stage one heads are bare, just P&P. yeah but DSS is also giving you 1-200hp more on NA so i would expect a jump like that.

rough question but, what else can I get to boost power but will keep my CEL light off? I'm pretty sure I'm at about 165whp right now and with a tune i'll be at about 175whp, I'm just trying to see what else I can do that I havent already that'll boost that up but keep my CEL off and the car running good.
