NACA duct?

NACA duct?
Has anyone ever seen someone use a NACA duct on their cobalt? I was trying to find pics but can't. I know someone tried a normal cf scoop on their GMPP CAI, and it netted 12whp, but NACA ducts are so much more smooth

i dont think a ram air add on for an intake will gain 12 hp... maybe the intake will but idk man...
ive thought of putitng in a indented type scoop right in front of where the blower is though

i think it would be more of a hassle than the gain is worth. you may get some cleaner, cooler air from outside the hood. but what are you going to do when it rains? are you ever going to go back to stock? you'll need another hood

It was in the thread, literally, right above this one in the intake thread

I just don't find the scoop he uses attractive. However, the way he cuts his hood and vents to the air filter, would limit the amount of precipitation the intake absorbs. A NACA duct, however sexy, will probably experience more moisture. At any rate, none of the moisture questions really matter anyway, because you'd have to completely submerge your engine to hydro-lock it.

As others have said, gains will be minimal. Might sound a bit better when Throttle body opens. Seems like too much work/time for gains. How much are you paying for the hood? as teh money could be spent elsewhere

how am I paying for the hood? well mine has bubbles forming on the leading edge and rust will soon come through, so I'm buying a new hood regardless, I just thought I'd have some fun with the old one before I junk it, maybe I'll add a funny car style cannon scoop

not to dash your hopes, its your car after all
but the intake for our motors is on the passenger side , and the intake/filter (stock airbox or after market cai/sri) is curled under the passenger front wheel. Go check it out for yourself
There is a small 2-3 inch piping that is designed to suck air from under the passenger wheel well to feed air into the engine. this is the how its designed factory.
the RK sport hood driver side scoop, will do nothing but add drag, and probably make the hood vibrate/lift up on a highway (read drag will make you slower)
Random googl'ed imaged (sorry if its someone elses car)
K & N 2.4 typhoon
I drew in the red boxes,. the driver side one will do nothing. and the passenger side oune wont reach the filter. It will land near the MAP sensor. 12 whp is highly unlikely. and you WILL notice your hood flex/vibrate on a highway. also most CAI/SRI have a heatshield, which further nulifys air flow from a hood.
the air intake is underneath the passenger side wheel well, and is designed to trap air from underneath the car and force it up into the engine.
if you want it for looks, go for it man. but you wont get any gains from that hood. a K & N typoon i the best intake for the 2.4 and is about $300 from amazon. That and a tune MIGHT net you 12 whp.
don't believe dynos from vendors (even zzp lol) as there is so many factors and things to consider
