New injectors and tune!
#51
With the Redline set so high, the IDC was up to 98% in 3rd gear, and we started seeing knock as soon as the IDC went above 90-92%. Only 2.8* of knock, but still not a good thing. Luckily all the knock went away with the new injectors, because 1-2 gear was about 72% max IDC, and 3rd Maxed at 76% with 3 people in the car. Since there was no knock, we added some more timing, and drove it without any further knock.
My next goal is to reprogram the VVT, but as you can guess, that's not an easy task.

It might be worth a trip out your way to tune mine once the weather starts to get better.
As for the VVT tuning, early systems like the 2.0 Alfa Romeo switched simply based on RPM. Does it appear that the computer for ours is more complex, sensing engine load, throttle position, etc? I'm not sure how much gain there would be in switching the cam timing earlier or later. However, I learned from tuning the Alfas that I definitely like VVT - great idle, good low load crusing, with much better cam timing once it switches.

You are always welcome to head down for a tune and car show. It can be fun to hang out with the AZ gang.
If you have an Auto Tranny, I can retune those as well (Flippin' Sweet).
The stock IDC was around 90% too high for performance.

I can never understand why manufacturer's run injectors at such a high IDC. Chrysler is bad about this, too.
Yes, I have the auto. Once someone posts the right wiring harness P/N I'll probably pick it and the injectors up. Maybe in the spring I can make a run out there - it would be a fun road trip, adn it would be fun to play around with a tune. I'm reluctant to get too agressive with the tranny for longevity purposes - I fully agree that the least you should do is a tranny cooler if you ramp up the pressure and firm up the shifts.

what should i do? how many people here can confirm the same part number?
i was also at my mechanics and he said if i want to he can splice and solder the connections for me, but i dont wanna have to do that unless i absolutely have to
