The Numbers are in!!!

So just came back from grabbing the car after Westers had it for a couple days. Had to wait till he freed up some time to do mine. I had him do a tune aswell as fix my cel problems, idle issues and calibrate my speedo. Upon arrival they had a 2006 Solstice with a turbo kit and meth inj. and exhaust is what i could see, he ran that car and compared it to mine. When he told me my cars numbers i got a little dissapointed till he explained how there is a 35-40% drive loss. I was skeptical till i seen the soltice numbers. After getting it home and takin it out to see what it felt like i am blown away by the difference. The car pulls soo hard now. Pulled a modded 180sx pretty hard tonight so that shows me something. Westers has quite a rep. and i can see why, the car feels completely different. Im interested to put it on a dynojet soon.

Also my before tune run was 140.8whp/131.2wtq New numbers: 148.6whp,133.8wtq
If i add 35% thats not to shabby. Also the solstice has very impressive 1/4mile times. mid 14's according to the owner/tuner. Chart is marked wrong i know but you get the idea as to which car is which

Before Tune

Solo Run After Tune

Solstice and Me.

Yea i wasnt bein an ass just sayin ask him cause i have no clue. Also it came with about 40 pages of reading from all different rpms, with speed power and fuel ratio. i dont know what it means but whatever it goes faster now. and if it is 35-40 than thats over 200hp.

the solstice had to be a base model with an LE5 there is no way a turbo solstice puts out only 170 hp. Tune time did my tune and I'm real happy with the results.

i don't think that the drivetrain loss is correct... that would mean you gained like 60 hp from intake, exhaust, and tune. and before the tune, you gained 49 whp from an intake and exhaust.

i bet the solstice that dyno'd wasn't the turbo one, because mid 14's are not impressive from a stock turbo solstice, so a modded one seems off. 148 whp seems about right for your mods, but 200 doesn't.

either way, it feels better, and you're satisfied, so that's the most important thing. i'd love to see some 1/4 times.

um no theres not that much of a drivetrain loss at all. try more like 14-18% loss

When i get some time off work ima take it to Calgary and see what it puts down on the dynojet there. Numbers did seem low but what a difference in power. So i think it should put down some better numbers elsewhere i hope.

wow.. they have no idea what they're doing ...

1.. you should be making more then that..
2...that turbo solstice was probably a 2.4 and should've dynoed much more then that.. no way is it only making 30 hp more then you unless it's running like 3-4 psi...
3...it's looking like the turbo doesn't spool up till 4500 which would mean the turbo is ******* huge or the setup is done horribly .
4.. the solstices' dyno cuts off at 6k rpms.. so unless something is fucked up with the tune then the dyno operator didn't run it to redline
5... 30-40$ drivetrain loss... WTF lol .. it's more like 12-20% lol

so yea go get it dynoed someplace else lol

I think the track will do more explaining then i can, trying to tell people something i was told that they dont believe. Hopefully this weekend. Hopefully i may run into another 2.4 somewhere near me to test this out.

WHOA WHOA WHOA, what the hell? Are you sure you own a 2.4L? Your stock whp should be at LEAST 150. Mine was like 152 and my tune bumped it up to 165whp. This seems like a reason I would definitely NOT go to Westers for a tune. Never heard of such a thing called 35-40% drivetrain loss, WTF?? Most I've seen is like 20% MAX 25%ish on a garbage AWD car with a restrictive tranny. Auto 2.4's are looking at about 15% drivetrain loss and the 5speeds around 12, being that its FWD.

sorry, i get a little whacky when people who dont know much tune cars and they end up breaking (like mine) and/or see no gains. had a bad experience, fortunately fixed by the warranty

had my car dyno tuned for the 1st time, it was fine, bought a ZZP header and downpipe, fine tuned for the extra airflow, changed timing and all kinds of newer stuff. 2 weeks later, engine misfires, sounds like ****. somehow fixes itself, goes back to somewhat normal tone. no codes or anything. month later cylinder 3 blew out....misfired over 1 MILLION times. chevy barely took it under for warranty work, they thought about blaming it on the intake/exhaust but they know me better than that, i talk to them a lot and they know i do all of my own work and im not stupid. 2 weeks later, its fixed. never going back to Vengeance Racing in Cumming Georgia.

I have exp at Westers.

Took my old Cobalt--2.4L 5 speed there. Then I went back to the track and put over 1 dozen passes on it----I gained exactly ZERO!

No where did the car pick up any mph or time. I was so pissed
