Hey guys,

Ok.. So recently I've been having a noise under my hood. It's a very steady beeping noise. Every second, a beep. It's coming from my valve cover, right over my injectors. But it's only while at idle. As soon as I give it gas, it stops until it reaches idle again. It's quite a loud noise. I do have a SRI intake and a ram-air hood, but it just seems quite loud for what it is.. I wasn't sure if it could've been a belt, but it's coming from the top of the engine. Has to be something in the injectors or something? My car isn't due for inspection for another month, and I hate taking it there when there isn't a real problem. The car is running perfectly fine, aside from a tiny drop in MPG recently and coolant temps rising every once in a while as well.. It has a mind of it's own.. Any ideas? Will it hurt anything or just be annoying? lol.

Also, if it IS the injectors, are the s/c injectors a good idea? I heard they really don't help much over the 2.4 ones unless you boost? And you need a tune or something anyway? Info?

When you say beep...do you mean like a 'Electrical Beep' noise?

Yeah, meant to take one yesterday. I'll get it today and post it ASAP.. But yes, an electrical beep.. It's odd.. haha

There is nothing electrical that would cause a 'beep' around the injectors. Unless maybe the injectors have a new fail system that beeps to let you know its failing...but ive never heard it.

call the stealership and ask what it could be.

 

yea ^ thats what i was thinking but other than that i could be one of those tricky sounds that's actually coming from something else but... other then that idk

 

It's most definitely the top. But it stops when the car is accelerating. Lightly or heavily - doesn't matter. But it beeps when it's idling. I guess it's not too big of a deal since the car is running great.. I'll just wait it out until I take it for inspection in a month..

The beep is clearly heard. Although you can't quite tell from the video that it's from the top..

 

Your coil packs and spark plugs are on the top!!!???!?!?!?!???!?!?!?

 

thats crazy, sounds like a UFo or something. Never heard anything like that on mine.

That's what I thought too.. It's just weird that it stops when you give it gas. Oh well. The shop will hopefully know what's up.. haha

Are you sure it stops when you give it gas or maybe the sound is just being drowned out by the motor noise or exhaust noise?

 

Nope. Even if you just crawl. Still stops.

 

sounds like a belt or something rubbing..maybe tightens up with gas and clears whatever its rubbing on? Sounds exactly like a rubber eraser would if you squeaked it quick on a table top.

 

Get the belt replaced! If it keeps making the sound after a new belt, you have a bearing going out on one of the belt driven items.
