I did serpentine and timing at 60k miles when I went turbo. Not because they failed, mostly because I had everything all apart anyway/ preventative maintenance

Supposedly timing is good for the life of the motor /180k miles

Im a little confused about the 2.4's internals, on one article i have it says it uses standard powdered steel connecting rods, where as the LSJ used forged steel, and in the article i have from 2009 where the 2.4 eco was awarded wards north american top 10 engines of the year it claims to have forged connecting rods. However the version they listed was direct injection.

I think the 06 and 07 have forged rods.

I believe 2005 do as well

The LE5 is multi port fuel injected
The LE9, LAF, LEA, LUK, are all direct injection

So i picked her up tonight and was able to get a better idea of the issues that are going to need resolving, there are no active codes or lights on the dash thus far, however the gauge pod looks like it has been disassembled at one point in time, with the lights on you could see the face plates are not in the correct position, which explains why none of the needs are in their correct positions, so i decided to not even bother with fixing that just yet and just ordered a 06 160mph gauge pod off ebay for 70 bucks shipped.

The hard shifting seems to just be VVT solenoid related, the car falls on its face at WOT through the mid range, which I would attribute directly to that, or needing a tune up. The car has def had maintenance at regular intervals though, it has a walmart oil change sticker on the windshield showing its been getting regular 5w30 oil changes, the coolant was of a new color in the bottle, and the trans fluid im going to be changing anyway. Steering is a little loose, i imagine it needs tie rods, which is no big deal. Brakes were horrific, so im doing those tomorrow morning along with a oil change to rotella T6.

The power locks dont work with the lock switch, so i ordered a replacement master switch off rock auto for 9 bucks, gonna try replacing that first, that might be my lock issue, ill have to do a passenger side window motor soon enough, but it is still moving thus far. Also going to have to inspect the regulator as it looks like the window rocks a little bit as well.

I only got one key with the car, and no keyless entry keyfob so im not even sure if it has it, ill have to swing by the stealership and have them run the vin and see what options it was equipped with, how much a spare key is going to cost me, and if the recalls has been repaired at all.

Mine only came with one key as well. So how much did you pay for it?

I loved my 2.4. It was bulletproof until around 75000 when I had to replace injectors and the evap purge solenoid. I just did regular maintenance. It was a 2007.

ive only worked on one other car that had bad injectors, and it had a persistent misfire that was unrelated to ignition components, only way i was able to narrow it down was to move injectors between cylinders and the misfire followed it to the other cylinder.

you would get a misfire code, but as far as i know theres no way for this car to monitor injector's as far as performance goes, redlines fuel injector cleaner (and no others) is a good way to keep your injectors clean. Its the highest concentration of actual cleaning agent available on the shelf. All others like STP and such are just kerosene and petroleum distillates in a bottle, if you look at their MSDS sheets.

Well, here she is, in all her hooptieness. Washed and cleaned to the max, i need to clay bar the sides and compound and polish, and then get a quote from maaco for repainting the hood roof. Couple shots of her next to the old hotness, and my brothers ford hotness in the background lol covered with the tarp. Cant wait to get down on that POS, hopefully i can convince him to throw a 302 in there.

did the front brakes today, got a frozen slide pin on the pass side, couldnt change the oil, walmart who was previously doing the oil changes wrecked the oil pan plug and decided it would be a good idea to loctite it to the pan. Had to pick up a new plug today, gotta take a crack at that tonight if it cools down. Also found these disgusting messes of air filters, the car has seen no love whatsoever. You can also see in one of the pics above that the gauges are all fucked up, ordered a new pod from ebay.
