Hurts air velocity thus hurting all around performance. Not a mod that's recommended.

Not that big of a difference...
Looks like a pretty big difference to me!
1/8 mile difference stock - 5 tenths
1/8 mile difference mod - less than a tenth but thats a fully bolted 2.2 against an intake only 2.4
1/4 mile difference stock - 2 1/2 tenths plus 2 miles per hour. But the 2.4 in the 2nd spot ran less than a tenth slower than a fully bolted 2.2 yet it only had an intake.

It is to also be noted that the 2.4 cars typically weigh more as well.
So take into account the 2.4s running will always have less mods than the 2.2s. Fully bolted the 2.2s can have an intake manifold a throttle body and cams over the 2.4.
Though if you want to compare im sure theres similar modded supercharged or turbocharged 2.2 vs 2.4s we can compare

Now this is all off topic. And honestly NA is fun. But if you want true power the 2.4s like boost.

While you can point out the minor weight difference, the fact that the 2.4L benefits from exhaust improvements, CVVT (over the earlier 2.2s at least), larger TB, and for the automatic 2.4Ls -- better gearing (3.91:1 Vs 3.63:1), the "performance" increase wasn't worth the $7K difference in price (Base LS Vs Base SS/NA). Again, the times in the drag racing forum were "timed" at different locales and more-than-likely different temperatures. Would be nice to see a 2.2 and 2.4 car (with the same mods) go head-to-head at a dragstrip to get a better idea. I know that I would not have wanted to run my 07 SS/NA against my 06 LS -- the LS was quicker...and it did beat a stock 06 SS/NA in acceleration on the street...twice in a row!

I only a few months to organize this, but I will make it happen.
