Poor acceleration with A/C on

Yesterday I had the A/C on bust, I was at a red light, when it went green, letting out on the clutch and pushing on the gass she was slowly moving, then at about 2200 RPM's she started to take off.

Now I know the A/C will sap power, but I didn't notice until yesterday that she bogs down from a stop to a start.

When I turned the A/C off, different story

yup,

a/c and recircled air both make poor acceleration and should for any car.

They are all like that my friend. That's what A/C does to all of us unfortunately.

On a 4 cylinder it's very noticable.

It's severely noticeable on a 2.2 and it sucks in Las Vegas...

Yeah i only use it when the womans in the car. I personally would rather roll w/ the sun roof down. But she has some medical conditions where she is not supposed to be in the heat for long peroids of time.

Yea, I agree it REALLY sucks. I noticed it alot more on a 4-banger (the only one I have owned). On a couple of V-6's that I have, don't show much interest whether the AC is on or not.

Personally.. I don't like the cold. I prefer warm weather so I enjoy opening my windows and letting it get nice and warm. I only use it when I am going out at night and I am dressed to go out.. don't wanna sweat just sitting in the car.

It is hugely noticeable in this car. It is prob a combination of me driving V8's before this and that the extra strain on the engine causes more vibes which are transferred to me in the tranny mounts. the car rumbles like a tank at a light if the AC is on

If you go to the TIS web site I posted and enter your vin and under PCM module you will possibly see these updates. My car had the same problem but it is gone now that it has been updated.

Calibration History for: Operating system
Part Number CVN Bulletin # Description
12605261 00007DA9 - New software to address idle stability robustness under heavy A/C load.
12598275 0000216C - Operating system

Calibration History for: Electronic Throttle Control
Part Number CVN Bulletin # Description
12605262 0000BFE7 - New calibration to address idle stability robustness under heavy A/C load.
12603036 0000C647 - Electronic Throttle Control

again print out the list of updates and go to the dealer and ask them. they may or may not want to do it. If not then find a GM mechanic that has Tech II and have him flash it.

remember if this helps you out...rep, rep ,rep. haha

I've never noticed a difference with a/c on or off in my car.

It definitely makes the car idle differently, but I've never noticed a difference in acceleration

its because the compresser is belt driven and draws power away to run it.

Hey Hack. To tell you the truth the only thing I noticed with A/C on is the car idles rougher which is due to power drain. The exceleration was about the same, maybe a little less but not noticable. with the updates I had done the car runs GGGRRRRRREEEEAAAATTTT!!!
