Possible Future 2.4L Owner

After some thinking, I may possibly trade my car in for an 07 2.4L SS 5-speed. I'm not happy with the amount of money that I'm paying for my LS at the moment and for what I'm paying now I could get much more car for my money. I did the math and I could be paying a bit less even if you factor in the neg equity. I should be getting some money from the UPS education assistance program so I'll have some what of a down payment.

I'm going down the dealership where it's at tomorrow for a test drive and if the numbers work out the way I imagine, I'll go through with it.

I plan on doing the usual intake, header, dp, exhaust etc. It's Black and it comes with a sunroof and the 7 speaker sound system.

That's my thinking. I figure if I'm paying this much I might as get more car for my money. Even if I'm paying nearly the same as before it'll be worth it because it's more car. My credit is much better this time around too.

I'll post an update tomorrow if it's going to work out for me or not.

nice hope it works out for you
the pioneer sound is a lot better than some may think, it's as loud as my ears can handle, and the steering wheel controls are freakin awesome

Agreed, I really like my 2.4, but personally, I would save for a SS/TC.

I'm all about my "fake" SS

Go for it, it's a nice ride. Pioneer system is awesome for stock. Not as fast as the SC or TC versions but it still looks damn hot

The TC would be too much for me at the moment. The only reason why I'm considering this is because I may be paying lower or the same right now for a better car.

I test drove it today and everything felt good. The clutch grabbed strong and and the acceleration is noticeably better. The 2.4L engine is a nice sounding one. I'm taking a ride back down there either tomorrow or sometime next week. The only problem so far is that the speedo needle on my car isn't working properly and I already have an oem replacement coming. That might delay the whole thing to next week.

Edit: The car is still under warranty.

i agree. You can find them for 14-15k. A friend just bout an 06 32k for 15k. Unless your getting a good deal on the 2.4 i'd try and find an ss/sc.

And btw how many years are you going with on the ups loan? I wish i woulda done that when i started as i spent 3 years there.

2.4 LE5 is a great motor, you will love the better handling from the SS also. Bigger brakes, better suspension, faster car

If I don't get a good deal on the 2.4L 5-speed, I'll look into it. I saw a few with low miles for a decent price. I'm considering the 2.4L because it's still under warranty.

If I get the money from UPS, I don't have to pay it back.

so the 4 year eh (i use to work at ups btw and know what your talking about)? I was just a lil leary of not staying that long and getting stuck with paying off the loan.

Are you sure its a loan? I'm looking at the info right now and it says nothing about me paying anything back.

well it technically is a loan but if you work at ups for 3 or 4 years they pay it all off up to 2k a year (minus the intreset i think but not sure its been a year since i worked there). if you work there one year its like 50% pay off, 2 years was 75%. Ask your supervisor who you should talk to and they'll help you get in contact with someone there who knows all about it. Its a great deal though. Like i said wish i woulda jumped on it when i started there.

All right then. I'll talk to my Supervisor on Tuesday. I've already been with the company for a year.

Since this thread is in the 2.4 tech section, I might as well talk about a few mods.

How does the engine respond to a CAI, Header, DP, and Cat back? I'd imagine it should be greater than a 2.2L.

That's not bad at all.

edit: The dealership is only asking $14995 for it. So if everything goes right, I'll be able to get a good deal.

If can get a good monthly payment, I will.(I should have good credit by now)

I'm looking for a loan online as it seem that you get a better interest rate that way than financing through the dealer.
