Procharger?

What ever happened to the procharger kit that Speed Mafia was going to put out? What happened to Speed Mafia in general?

There still there! The procharged cobalt is still in development on the tune and equipment. It laid down 267 whp at 5800 at 14 psi. The tuning needs to be redone without the solid motor mounts the car had! It was giving off false knock and was making the timing to low for power! Also 267 was with 11* of timing!

Thats on the 2.0l! not the 2.4l. The 2.4l will put down more power. The 2.4l is going to be put together in the next week or 2 depending on schedules!

a turbo is driven by exhaust, it compresses the air inside the turbo housing= boost

roots blower, like the one on the SS/SC's is called positive displacement, run by a belt and just moves air, the pressure is made in the intake manifold.

a procharger (centrifugal supercharger) is like a belt driven turbo, at least in the way it creates boost.

that's a crude definition.

prochargers are more of the best of both worlds, one of my favorite setups. Cant way to see the finished product.

I do not understand these supercharger swaps. $2500 for a new supercharger and get like 300whp out of it. Spend $2500 and get a turbo swap or a twin charge kit and get 450whp.

i'm a 2.4 so its' not a sway for me .. it's a full on install..and some people have preferences and different power goals.. the best power is made by turbos..

centri sc's like a procharger, vortech sc, powerdyne, or rotrex.. are great designs too.. they have the alot of benefits but they also have the disadvantages of both superchargers and turbos because of how they're made..

personally i went with a procharger just so i could be different.. and because my power goal is 350 whp.. and i should be able to get it on a 2.4 with a procharger.. my full plans including ported head and totally rebuilt valvetrain 7500 rev limiter, cams and if needed rods and pistons if i cant hit at least 350 with all that.. and 20 or so psi.. i either upgrade the blower.. or add nitrous into the equation which would be sweet but we'll see
