Hey looking to help a friend with this car purchase, good idea? Are there any problems that are notorious for this car.... MAJOR PROBLEMS I mean?

Other than the power steering pump in the 2005 and 2006's there aren't any problems. I have 42k miles on mine and it runs beautifully.

The only big problem would be the power steering recal which may already be replaced by now as I would definetly check the service report to see if that has been replaced. Other than that the oem rotors tend to warp over time so those would need to be upgraded after awhile. Others may be able to chime in on anything else. Overall its a solid car with good hp for its class.

THanks for the info. so far everyone said the SS which was my guess but they guys dad was saying the car was older so more problems but actualy the ss I think was a little more takin care of when the engineers were working on it. Thanks for the info I think the decision has been made.

Honestly not much has happened on my car.

Steering shaft was failing but that was covered under warranty and recall I believe.
My sunroof is a bit noisy.

Yeah thats about it

i have a 2006 2.4 sedan automatic. i'm almost close to about 100,000 miles still running good. all stock ofcourse. nothing serious except what everybody said about the steering recall. had that replaced under warranty and something about fuel pump sealant or something like that. i forgot it's been awhile. i love my car. good on gas mileage no complaints just need to buy some new struts for my car.

The 2.4 is a great engine with plenty of potential.

out of the box its obviously not as fast as a cobalt SSS/C/T/c but if you really cared enough you could buy a 2.4 standard for a tonne less money than its boosted cousine and T/C it yourself for a bit and become mmmuuuchhh faster than the other guys

though in its N/A form it will still go, dont get me wrong
