Mine has always done this. You just have to completely let off the gas a few seconds before depressing the the clutch. It's just still revving and the the decreased load when upshifting revs the engine a bit.

I honestly don't know what to say. I've got a 2.2 but it's the LAP so it's got the same VVT head and when driving (does have F23) i've just gotten used to it. Never knew it was a problem (and still don't consider it one). I bought it at 42k and it's now at 56k and no issues. Even had it tuned and it's still there. It's just extra fuel burning and since I've read the LSJ did this in reviews I figured it was a common thing across the line of engines.

Yeah i understand what you mean i know that ecotecs do that a little bit like 100 rpm up but mine is very crazy...the rpm is 1000 over until that time I change gear. If I let my foot on the clutch pedal and continues to roll the rpm does not go down as long as I will not let the clutch pedal off... if i unplug my pcm and replug it the car is ok for maybe 20-30 km i'll try to unplug my battery today for 30 minutes and hope it will do something !
