bigworm's re-build thread
santa's getto ass brought me 2.4L
The history on my car, for those thats dont know. In Janurary of 07, one of my balance shafts broke, slammed into the exterior wall of the block leaving a nice fat crack. I then did a bunch of moving, changing jobs, relationship break up, went crazy and came back half-way...
The plan was always to shoot for 420whp with a nice turbo and alot of boost. However, the car has been sitting for a year and i've been paying the payments and insurance and i just hadnt had the time to deal with it but i had the money. So mid-last year i got an engine builder and gave him a bunch of money and said "make it happen". But again, no time to deal with the little things and everything was put on hold.
Now that I was laid off from <insert large internet company here>, I'm taking time off to get it running, and after tuning Beck's "cobalt SS supercharged non-supercharged", the combination of reliability and high-power made me change my plan. The new goal is about 320whp with the m62.
overbored, honed, prepped, and cleaned.
the money-shot
clean.
engine topless
hecho en mexico

After about 10mins of telling myself, "its your fault... dont kill anyone yet... it might be okay.." I looked at it. the top ring was kinda bent, nice scratch in the side, but i think it will be okay. Its seating because i used lube on the walls and rotated the crank and it took the lube... I think it will be okay...
new pics up top.
next pay-day tho, I'll make a shopping list =]
