in 20 years we are going to find out those all worked and we were really getting scammed by the companies charging us 500 dollars for 20 horsepower while these idiots that are still going to community college could make us little chips for 20 bucks that give us 35 to the wheels....wouldn't that be depressing.

because they are actually using "chips" from reputable shops or tuning hardware companies with actual tunes, instead of just plugging a resistor into your ecu like the ebay chips are.

the ebay company is praying on the word "chip"
because people say their car is "chipped"
but its not that shitty ebay junk.
its actually a chip that alters the tune of their vehicle.
not a few wires and a resistor.

Its this company that made the word CHIP synonymous with performance.

http://www.jetchip.com/products.asp

Those ebay chips are a scam to play off of real testing and devlopment.

Some cars have removable CPU chips that can be replaced with one with a different program. In the early days of this (late '80's) Hot Rod bought all of the big names for a Camaro and then dumped the program to see what they had done. Most were the usual: better timing, more fuel, higher red-line. One that was quite popular was blank - it worked because it forced the computer into limp mode, which in a lot of cases runs better than when the ECU is controlling things. Just don't get into real hot or real cold weather, or high altitude, or...

Its literaly impossible to "chip" our ECU's because we have a sealed computer.

Our version of getting "chipped" is "tuned" via HPTuners or other software.
