solstice 2.4

is it me or does it seem like the aftermarket is taking to the solstice alot more than to our 2.4 engine, or maybe im just not hearing about the stuff coming out for us like supercharger kits and turbo kits spefically for the 2.4 cobalt. i was reading in the solstice forum and they are supporting that engine pretty good even possibly gonna be making pretuned ecu's for them fully tuned to take advantage of an intake and exhaust setup. oh well sorry about the rant.

Really? i can see it gettin a good push already! it was one of the most talked about cars commin out this year. I'm still a lil shocked how the Cobalt (2.0/2.2/2.4) havn't really been picked up by as many ppl as i see. I thought it would be like "The new cool thing" to have these company's hooking up American Compacts. oh well. I guess i miss judged?

yes, i did mean that thank u. I was about 2 sec away from buying an SS S/C to buying a Solstice. I read on one of the post's about the SS trans having to be rebuilt after a lil more then 300 hp cuz it can't take it, and i was like, eehhh, i'll just get a solstice. But the wait on them is getting crazy. + if u want one with certin options, and the dealer dosn't have it with them, your pretty much outta luck. Cuz only so manyt are being built per year (20,000) so, i don't see y all these companies would come out with all this stuff for such a small load of cars, when already, there have been more then 100,000 Coablts sold! not all for customizing, but not all solstice's either!!! FIGGIN AFTERMARKET, WAKE UP!!! HOW MNAY PPL ON THIS FORUM???? THATS A CLUE WAAKKEEE UUPPP CCAAALLLLL

I'm actually the point of contact for all the supporting dealers/vendors/tuners at solsticeforum.com. We've had a very large and rich crowd of companies coming to the Solstice platform and it keeps growing all the time.

I chalk a lot of it up to the image of the car. It's the only way to explain why a lot companies are devloping on a low volume platform car that is the Solstice+Sky market. When they finally reach max production for both you're talking like only 30k combined of both a year made, plus 1k~5k Opel GTs which will get shipped only to the Euro regions. Developing parts for this car is more prestigeious thanks to the cars image, but less profit. However I know several supporters here who are also over at the solsticeforum.com posting and will eventually become supporters some day.

We've got 3 Supporting companies doing V8 swaps already Mallett (http://www.mallettcars.com/) being one of them as mentioned, V8 Archie who is huge in the V8 Feirro swap market, and Werks of Performance Autowerks. We've also got at least 2 members looking to do V6 swaps as well with the last gen supercharged 3800 engine.

We've got a ton of other supporters over there too contributing all the time.

ok this is gonna sound amazing, there is a guy who lives about 20 min from me, hes an engineer, he is going to make his cobalt AWD, thats right AWD. I will try to talk to him sometime in the near future to get more details, but i know he was planning on keeping the ecotec 2.2L thats already in there.

AWD cobalts will blow the hell out of any rwd solstice IMO.

will update in the near future as soon as i have more info. im so excited to see it when its done.

I've thought about ti some more and I think part of it might have to do with the communities around the car too. The average buying age of a Solstice is 42, which is a lot higher then the average age of the people here. When dealing with an older age group you're dealing with people who make more money, and have the ability to spend more as well on products. Yes, there are far more Cobalts made then Solstices, but can even 50% of the community afford to drop $5k on a Turbo kit right after buying the car? I know I can't, but the rest of the comminity really seems to have the ability. We're talking about people buying brand new cars and dropping $20k on Mallett conversions.
