Spare tire & jack

I pick up my SS on Saturday and plan on taking the spare tire and jack out as soon as I get home. Does anyone know what they weigh?

Taking it out for the track or for normal driving around?

I would seriously reconsider if you want to leave it out all the time.

You should leave them in if you are just driving around town.....Why would you not keep a spare?

I ditched my jack and spare the minute I got the car home... I only drive like 10 miles a day anyways... so I can always put it back in for a long trip. Plus there's always the free roadside assistance.

Then again, I'm goin more race then anything! but the #'s alone should help acceleration which intern helps acceleration, and poss a lil gas milage.

yeah, but the free roadside assistance will put your spare on. they don't bring a whole new mounted tire and rim. if you get a flat on the road, most likely thats not going to be something that simply putting air in will fix. and, at that point, you're screwed.

I wouldn't count on that... from aaa.com

Things that are covered:

Tire Change — Removing a flat tire from your vehicle and replacing it with your inflated spare. If a spare is not available, your vehicle will be towed as provided by your membership.

Things that are not covered:

Mounting of tires on rims.

The cost of repair parts and labor — these will be at your expense.

I think you're going to be disappointed if you think that they'll go and purchase a tire and rim and bring it to you if you get a flat. btw, the towing is only free for the first 3 miles. don't know, sure don't see the benefit of that to lose 20 lbs on a street car...

neither of my cars have a spare. I think it weighed about 35 lbs or so. That's about 1% of the cars weight.

Also, you can get one of those cans of fix a flat if you are worried about running without your spare. I think SRT-4's come with a can of that stock. Or maybe I'm thinking of a different car. S2000?

Thanks phxSS. That's what I was looking for. I need to get a scale. I'm married so if I ever need my spare the wif can buz it to me whereever I'm sitting. I'll throw it in for long trips though. I've been spareless for 18 years now without a flat...I'll blow a tire tommorrow now that I wrote that!

Yeah really.......or the 32.5 pounds. It's one thing if you're going to take it out b/c you want the room for amps or other such equipment, but just to take it out for the weight is retarded IMO. The ppl that take them out for weight in a daily driving situation are the same people that "can feel their car go faster" when they put platinum spark plugs in it.

im being redundant.... but yes, taking it out is useless, and if you know how to drive, you can smash a n/a civic/rsx/rice rocket, a 1999 civic si comes with 160hp stock, put on a fart can and a shiny intake, and they are barelt pushin 170... so the playing field is evened out... 'but thye weigh less' i can hear you already, they have WAAY less torque so you can get them off the line.... no wories buddy, race them, if you lose, you lose, somebody has t olose if somebodies gonna win
