Sport Sedan

So does anyone on here own the 2.4l sedan? I own one and have never seen another in my life. Would it be a waste of time to tune this variant because its heavier and less agressive looking than a normal SS? Also, general sport sedan thread.

I was looking at getting a stage 2 zzp super charger kit and a 3" catback exhaust for mine.

3inch would be too big for that. 2.5 inch is where you want to be at unless you get a tvs or a turbo

Well what are your power goals?

And I would suggest you don't tune your car at all. Find a good tuner and get a tune from them.

I mean tune as in the general sense of me boosting the power of my car with the help of shops and professionals and I would love around 300 horses under my hood.

Supercharger or not, it's still an eco box at the end of the day. But short of boosting it, don't bother.

If you're looking for easy power. Turbo. Though I do believe its harder to install.

Sc was pretty easy and I had pretty much no car experience. I also love the supercharger whine and instant power lol.

The problem is do I want more power over a longer time or less power instantly.

I went with the route that I am now cuz I wanted a safe but fun daily driver since I'm still in college. When I graduate is when the real fun begins lol. I've always wanted to do a big build and tvs my car for hopefully around 400whp but noe idk if I just want to turbo it lol. Still gotta decide but I have time

Same here with the college thing. I'm leaning towards the turbo and getting new rods and pistons instead of buying the supercharger and replacing everything later on.

Ehh my thought is if I'm gonna get into internals then might as well go big and add more ****. Cams and well pretty much make the whole thing indestructible lol. But not sure on if you have a 5 speed or auto but you also need to think about transmission depending on how big you go

2.4s can take a good amount of power before booming.

Mid 300s should be just fine.

Manual trans is just a clutch change to make it reliable.

Auto is on the fence. Depends on how you drive it.

a close friend of mine drives one, i have the 2.4 coupe, he has the sedan. and actually (according to wikipedia) the sedan is lighter than the coupe.

There is alot of preformance parts for the 2.4, and they all will fit the sedan, the engine/exhaust layout dimension are indentical.

the old saying is, you can choose any 2 of the 3 : fast, cheap, reliable

its an expensive hobby, and the best/proper/safest route is allwasy the most expensive

and you can make a 2.4 sedan (or any car for that matter) a monster. Yes it is not as agressive looking as the coupe's/ss, but there is no reason why it cant be as powerful. a zzp turbo kitted 2.4 le5 is more powerful than a stock lnf.

I personally love the concept of a sleeper, people often say the sedan is rental car, but you could troll the **** out of people when their $50,000 muscle car cant pass you

It allways comes down to money in the end, at the end of the day, between shipping costs/duty fees *canada* , clutch, turbo kit, exhaust, labour, custom tune etc it was about $7500 (including parts)

Figure out your budget first, but to make any serious power on these motors, you pretty much need to go super charged or turbo, so i would save at least $4000/, before you start clicking "add to cart". use the time to research / plan

The parts on my car right now are capable of 350 WHP, but i have it tuned and adjusted to 260-270 WHP. Why? because i dont drive the car past 200 km/h /120 miles consistantly. at 260-270 wHP my car tops out 3rd at 160 km (100 mph) and goes well past the 220 km/h end of the speedometer in 4th. I troll the mid life crisis muscle car guys all day, when they try and pass

bottom line is, dont think you need 300-400 WHP to have a a fun daily driver.

its pretty much pointless to have a high horse power street car with a huge turbo that makes full boost after 5500 RPM. Narrow but high HP powerbands suck for a daily driver.

Anyone who has ever built an engine will tell you that any car can be fast with the right parts. If your happy with your car, why sell it? Make it a monster.

You could sell you car and get the turbo LNF cobalt, but for the same price you could get a 70s muscle, or even a used c4/c5 corvette. But even if you bought one of them, there is still going to be a better/faster car, there allways is.

I am on the same boat as you. i have an 06 2.4ss sedan and I want to boost it. Cant decide if i want to sc or turbo. the sc is instant boost but is also harder on the tranny. and turbo has the lag. I will probably go turbo just not 100% sure yet. Its also more expensive to turbo.

Ive spent about $1700 in performance mods on my car. That is a header,catback exhaust, magna flow muffler, lsj throttle body, k&n intake, zzp downpipe and hp tune. Im still not even at 200whp. I could have spent that money on a sc kit. So your best bet is to keep it stock right now and wait and save your money for boost.

And ive spent $2200 on appearance and audio, but that was completly worth it.

When i had an intake,exhaust,lsj tb and tune i ran a 15.5 at the track. Since then i added header/downpipe, 93 octane fuel and a better tune. Im hoping that when it gets cold i can pull a 14.9.
Im an automatic btw.

Well if you boost it think of all the fun you can have with it, and when you destroy a lot of cars with it then it will make people say WTF
