so the 6ix has a longer life then? What gap? Stock gap is .044, right?

not sure really...the plugs are specific to our vehicle and theyre using i believe it was .35...the 5ix has longer life...were using the 6ix's

This is my story about spark plugs and boosted 2.4's.

When I first supercharged the car, I ran it with copper plugs. However, the tune was **** (pig rich) and just for safe measure, when I had the tune tweaked to a more sensible afr (Still somewhat rich but not as rich as before), I swapped in some new plugs. I thought iridium was better because, hell they put them in the Sti so they must be somewhat good. Well, not all engines are the same. The iridiums flat out suck. My idle sucks, pickup is somewhat hesitant and I get random misfires. None of this happened when I had the copper plugs in.

Go with copper. LFR6A-11, gapped to stage 2 on the ss/sc whatever that is. I always forget and spend a few days looking for the gap. Also, check the gap every so often. They like to open up after 3500 miles or so. I've got a brand new set of copper plugs I can't wait to get in over the weekend.

Fair enough. I don't have a problem with checking the gap every oil change if it saves the engine.

Anybody else had a problem with the Iridiums? Maybe you just got a bad batch...? I still don't see these 6IX anywhere, maybe NGK only makes the 5IX now? And has anyone tried the NGK GP series at all?

Edit: Related question - anybody change their wires at all?

there is nothing wrong with iridium plugs, other than the price

I run them as well as Flytrap (who has a 2.4) was running them for quite some time without issue...if you're having idle issues with a brand new set of plugs you have another issue at hand.

also the # in LTR6IX-11 is the heat range...5IX should be stock and 6IX are one step colder, 7IX are two steps colder, etc.

is the reach on the NGK LFR6A-11 plugs the same as stock?

interesting...you and red are the only ones that have problems...and red said sometimes...celica and turbo's are fine...

Well, I bought some iridiums. So if they suck, I'll go to napa and buy some coppers.

IF I do go copper.. the LFR's are the way to go? Who can vouch for them?

The reason I ask - a google brings up a bunch of links saying they are plugs for a Boat .. plus they're longer and have a different thread... .

your only going to get so much from hahns tuning. it isnt the best, and there have been problems with it in the past. your best route is 60's and a custom tune

I use the same ones that came with the car from the factory. Though I have some colder plugs I am going to put in it soon.

I got my 2.4L tuned by a friend who has HP Tuners. I would look around for someone with that.....You may have to buy a license but it was amazing how well it worked.

I gotta get rid of my iridiums now because they are throwing way too many misfires. i need copper and should have got copper from the beginning to save some headaches with tuning.

^ What coppers are you planning to go with? The BKR7E or whatever the ss/sc guys use?

Slightly unrelated, but I'll know you'll post - how long did it take for Bill to send your PCM back? Thinking of doing the build this weekend but don't want to be car-less for all of next week.

Im going with the NGK lfr plug. cant rememebr the whole code. Should be changing those out this coming week then getting back on the dyno to finish tuning.

Bill will turn around the pcm in a week or so usually.

Okay.. here's my question.. why does someone think these are the best for our application? If you look at the recommended applications, you'll see it's a plug recommended for STIs and other Subaru/Toyota apps.

By the way, Aaron at Hahn tech recommended LZTR5A-13 (an SRT-4 plug) gapped to 0.030... which I believe I may try (they're $2.50 a piece from NGK.com)
