To turbo or not to turbo...

Well, it's my daily driver, about 40 miles to work and another 40 back (yeah I know...ugh) - so I want reliability, but I also don't wanna sink 6-7k into it, because with 6 or 7k I'd be making a down payment on an evo IIX. lol. But, I can see 3.5k or even 4k to get some boost behind the pedals, cuz as much as I love my car, we all know the na just isn't fast. lol.
I want reliable, relatively inexpensive, boosted fun for my daily driver.

IMO if you really MUST have boost i think a supercharger kit will be a whole lot more reliable with far less headaches in the long run, but thats me. Hell im not even pushing it that far, im doing an intake, header, downpipe, and throttle body on my 2.4 along with a tune and that's it. I dont have neither the time, funds, or patience to have my daily driver down for the count when something breaks from me modding the hell out of it.
Honda's are easy, you can have the motor's out in under an hour and parts are a dime a dozen, cobalts on the other hand. Little more complex of a procedure.

After selling a couple of my NA parts, I spent less than $2000 on my build. This includes clutch, a couple extra parts I didn't need but wanted. I also got the satisfaction from making a lot of my own parts. The absolute best part was that very first pull on 10psi, that's when I knew it was time and money well spent.

This is such a fun thread to read right now. lol. Getting myself all excited.
Yeah, it's a tough decision, and I truly think that SC is going to be a good bit cheaper, and for the MOST part more reliable. I still want decent gas and around the 300 mark for HP, give or take 15-20 hp. Like I said, just want to peppy up the ol' NA a bit.
Noorj, I also see your point, and I think you have probably just done a real good job, combined with a bit of love, care, and honest luck, and thus haven't had any real issues. Time will continue to tell. I do love your build tho. =)

I was speaking solely in reference to our application. These motors can really only handle about 15psi max in stock form, and no turbo has a surge line that low. ZZP's kit starts at 7-8 psi and can easily be turned up from there.
And where these motors sit on any compressor map, boost=power

Anyways, I'm running a to4e 60 trim at 20psi and I'm right under 400hp. Lsj internals are good till 425-450
All depends how you drive too

But the SC will certainly be more reliable because of how much less power you would make. Honestly hitting over 250whp will cost way more than going turbo and hitting 300whp reliably. If your fine with mid to lower 200's go sc but if you truly want 300wheel turbo is by far the best option.

All good stuff. I'm going to see what sort of kits I can piece together, do some math, and make a decision. 1500 bucks for a pieced together sc kit sounds real good, allowing me to save cash towards an evo or wrx sometime. But we shall see.

Wish I was buying like - this month. Boo, I won't be officially "in the market" for another 6-12 months.
