Turbo Ready? 2.4
Ok, with the June release of the Turbo expected, I am going to get my car ready.
Plans for orders include the following...
Engine, Tranny mounts / bushings.
Spec 2 Clutch - This may not be a correct name for it...
Intercooler cry02 spray...
What else can you guys offer as advice? I run a 2.4 with only intake and minor look mods...

I'm thinking just saving up and getting the turbo set up from Hahns, racing flywheel, racing torque converter, possibly the racing intake manifold from GM. My friend who has been turboing ecotec's ever since they came out said for a better response to get the racing flywheel and torque converter.

I wouldnt say that they are cheap. They are just lighter and free up power. Also you get inserts for them that wear out because aluminum is not as strong as steel or iron. The only problem I have ever had with an aluminum flywheel is that its easier to stall the car. I doubt your gonna break it. Especially with a 2.4 in front of it.

i havent found any upgrades for the tranny under hte 2.4l, maybe im not looking hard enough but i plan to beef the crap out of my tranny before any sort of engine stuff... i wanna stage three clutch kit... i mean go big or go home eh? and another thing, with the turbo, why would you get a whole new engine?

No need for new engine if done right, just can't run a lot of boost >8psi
I already have a turbo on my 2.4L Ecotec. Running 6-7psi. Still working out a few small bugs. But should be safe to run at that level without damage. I think that is about where the kit turbos will be set at when they come out.
As for the light weight flywheel, I never liked the one I had on my Sunfire. The engine reved faster, but it lost noticable torque. I could no longer climb hills in 5th that I used to be able to.

Well I wanted to see if it would work first. I think its about dialed in now. Very happy with the power and if I keep my foot off the pedal it get good gas milage too.
Only problem is if I really get on it hard for an extended period it goes into Power Reduction Mode. Need some colder plugs or something. I will try and take some pics tomorrow.

Oh... and please don't run an aluminum flywheel... like was said before... it makes the engine rev too fast and you do lost speed quickly going uphill. It also makes launching very difficult. Not good for drag racing.

Thanks snowbred for posting the pics.
Sofar the car is running pretty good with the turbo. Significant increase in power. Later I would like forged pistons so I can turn up the boost to 10psi.
I think I need some colder plugs and maybe and air to air intercooler in addition to the water/methanol injection, because if I punch it for more than a few seconds it goes into "Power Reduction Mode." Also have a check engine light, think its the rear O2 as it wasn't plugged in when I first started it up. Will be getting that checked this week.
