Can you use the Pacesetter header with a stock down-pipe and GMPP cat-back? Will it give a good bump in power as everyone seems to say you do? This is for a 2.4 also.. Any problems I should look for? They're on eBay.. Would adding a different dp REALLY help that much over the stock one? I'd still end up getting a catted dp anyway..

no, it has to be a shorty style header to fit a stock downpipe. you would have to buy the combo pacesetter header/dp

cant go to those websites on a govy computer. you dont want the stock dp anyways.

you have a 2.4, go with the shorty zzp or hahn. you will have better results

 

But see, I want to replace the header and dp both, but I don't want to spend 600 freaking dollars. Plus, I still need a cat system. OBX any good? I saw that they have a descent looking set, but I've only seen the race set so far (no cat)..

Can I buy the Pacesetter header and just buy an add-on dp and add it on? Or does Pacesetter sell their dp individually..?

 

thats just it, you can get the zzp/hahn now and bolt it up to the stock down pipe and get the aftermarket dp later when you get the bones. if you have the money jump on the corsa tour. there are a couple of members selling theres right now. sounds ****** sick.

im about 80percent sure only the pacesetter dp will only bolt up to its own header. the reason why i say this is because i think the bolt pattern would be different than others. mine was with the zzp.

 

I mean buy the Pacesetter shorty, then add on a similar sized dp?

 

yea, you can get the shorty, didnt know they made one. im not a huge pacesetter fan. heard to many things... you pay for what you get i guess. but yea the shorty should bolt up to the stock dp no problem. you can always ask a vendor that sells them.

So the ZZP one in the link DOES bolt up to the stock DP..? Can you then add on a different DP later on if you want to as a direct bolt-on? I don't want to have to weld anything.. lol

your not going to get a good power gain in any good RPM range that would be usefull on a 2.4 with a long tube IMO.

So I should get the Pacesetter one in the link? It will bolt up to my stock DP? So I'm fine with using the stock DP..?

If the Pacesetter one doesn't work because of the lack of the 3 bolt section at the bottom, I noticed the DC one looks like it'd work. Is that a good route too? I know alot of my Honda friends use DC headers..

i dont think the Pacesetter will bolt up to the stock DP, you have to get one made at exhaustdepot.com

 

why would u want to use the stock dp it is restrictive as hell..if u are gonna change out the header get a combo set up..u will be more satisfied in the long run.

 

The pacesetter does not bolt up, but you can have it welded on. And like was mentioned, exhaustdepot has a downpipe for it. For the price and the small hassle of getting it welded, its seems worth it.

 

End of story, the paceshitter mid length header will NOT bolt up to the stock DP unless you cut and weld it.

 

So just save up and get a full set up?

 

it's up to you, you can buy any shorty header now and buy a dp later, or you can get the paceshitter and get exhaust depots downpipe for it.

 

pace"*******" it is not...

its known to actually have the potential to be one of the best headers for our engines..

 

Last I knew, Area47 had a pacesetter header on his car, and we all know that he's done quite well with it power wise.

not to mention that there's no long tube heading in this thread.. only a midlength..

shorty...

low and mid .. midlength mid high.. (correctly tuned) long tube.. full range...

 

Elec, shorty is tuned for high end. Just like short runners on an intake manifold.

But of course, there will be gains with any style of aftermarket header as compared to the stock manifold.
