Vector tune
#26
Look at my dyno in my gallery, pre and post tune from vector. The gains at peak were at 10whp, but their are points in the midrange were 15whp was gained. Midgrange power was where the best gains were felt and to me the most important during daily driving.

no need to argue guys. yes the 2.4 is totally different. not many have really messed around with it...just really the ss/sc due to the s/c. the 2.4 is a whole different story. steve's tunes are good. i have a copy of his tune that he wrote for jackalope..no need to put him down. how many 2.4s on this site are using HPtuners..i dont know many. me and some others are pioneering this hptuners tune. of course when u mod the car u mite have cel's, and u mite dont. u changing anything with mite lead into problems..but what can u do. yes its easier to have hptuners cuz its a easy program to learn and a lot of people around you mite have it. yes maybe a "canned" tuned mite be nice but its a tune they set for that certain model..but all cars are not the same.im using hptuners and have no problems. can runs strong and its shifts like a beast and yes im auto...and thats all i have to say.
Anyone can sit and critique tunes all day and say what they would do differently. As you experienced in your own car, the Shift MPH had to be changed a hair to work properly on your car, and has been the case on each car I tune. They are all slightly different.
The fact of the matter is that I offered a tune for the 2.4L that was proven to take 1.2 seconds off of the 1/4 mile on a 4-door 2.4L SS with an Auto. For those of you who have driven my tunes, you know that the difference is NIGHT and DAY.
The tunes I offered for these cars were based off of MY customers preferences here in AZ, feel free to change them however you want to fit your needs, it's your car after all.
There you go. And yes, the midrange benefits the most, and is where you get most benefit. Thank you for posting something that is actually ABOUT the Vector tune.

Nice. Its good to know that even if Benny can't get me the hookups with tuning at Pro Motion (I believe he'd tune it using Pro Motions dyno if we can set up a date), I can always fall back on something thats tried, true and proven (Vector).

I love the tune I got from Doc, who got it from Psykostevo. Completely opened up my car. I even thought about the vector tune but then I heard about Psykos and saw how much money I could save. As a Jew, saving money is my top priority lol. But yea, love the tune, but I want to see what the vector can do so keep us posted. And Psyko, I sent you a PM about a lean code that Im getting cause Im in a different altitude than you, just wanted an opinion.

Question> Are you running an '06 or an '07 cobalt? There were Changes in '07 for those cars, and Terry had one and didn't tell me until after he had DOC tune his car. Had I known ahead of time I could have made the correct changes for him, and I had no clue about you until Terry told me.
Glad to hear you like the tune :-) and Thank too.
WHITECOBALTSS> Sorry for derailing your thread. It's really up to you to make yourself happy. And there is no One answer that makes everyone happy with their decisions. I was just giving you my $0.02, and you really can't go wrong either way.

Yea dude, I got lucky, I think he left like a week after he tuned my car. Ive got my fingers crossed that you can find someone who can give you the same or a similar tune.

If you have someone near you with HPTuners (DOC for example) or if you have it yourself, then I can help you out. I didn't think you guys would see a lean code, since it has not even been a problem here in AZ.

2. I have an '06 and my bad on being added on such short notice, I found out about the meet kinda late.
3. Glad you made the tune, I really do love it, shocks the people that encounter my little 2.4... lol
And WhiteSS.... What part of Northern VA are you from, cause Im only like 20 minutes from VA and if your friend has HPT he can use my tune as a model and then Pysko can let him know what to do to fix the lean code, then you get the tune and no, I repeat NO, downtime

1. Dont have HPtuners but Im sure I can find someone, I think there is a shop in VA with HPT. Ill keep you posted on my progress.

Man, i'll be soooooooooooooo glad once I get this tuning dilema out of the way. By far the biggest headache i've ever dealt with as far as modifying cars goes........
All my friends with WRX/STI's, Hondas, Focus's, etc etc have it so easy. Shops are so familiar with Cobb Accessport, ECUTEK, and even open ECU tunes/re-flashes (WRX/STI), Hondata (Hondas) and the Focus kids have it even easier with SCT flashers. But the 2.4SS...........no one around here (shop wise that is) is really aware of it or wants to tune it.
#37
I have personally seen over 30 vehicles that have been Psykotuned & not a single one has had any major problems! any minor problems that are had with his tunes he takes care of personally and quickly. He is professional and easy to deal with. One of the best tuners out there, and his prices are the cheapest out there... i mean seriously look at the alternative... $400? $500? $800? for tuning? common now.

Im in sumerduck, between Warrenton and Fredericksburg. Im decently close to Manassas, Woodbridge, Fairfax, etc etc. I don't have any personal friends with HPT, but if you could meet up w/ me at Pro Motion tuning in Fredericksburg, we'd use their HP Tuners software. I'd pay for the credits and the dyno time and voila. But if you don't have HP Tuners, how could we get your tune to Pro Motion for them to implement.

Dude, my Ion is a 2.4 Ecotec with VVT, same ECM and all. Same car differnt skin. Ion, Cobalt, and G5 are all the same car with differnt operating systems.
#43
Yeah, but if they are anything like the REDLINE SS/SC differences in operating systems, assumptions can be aggravating and catastrophic.

Psykostevo, if I can find a way to set it up, can you send the 2.4SS tune (altered to the '07 spec) to Pro Motion Tuning, in Fredericksburg VA. Their website is Promotiontuning.com. I can contact them in in person as they are only about a 20 min drive from my house if you can. PM me back and maybe we can set something up. They have HP Tuners on hand, so all i'd need is the tune and I could put my car on their dyno and voila. Thanks man.

Well....... Pro Motion is actually the shop I was looking at to help me fix my tune, its like 30 mins from me. But I thought that if someone used HPT they could just hook up to my car and see my tune on the screen, lol, shows how much I know about the tuning thing. Id be willing to meet up with you at Pro Motion though, Im off work by 3 every day and Im always in the VA area, if you want to give me a time and a day Id be more than willing to head over there with ya. And if they can use my tune, Id definitely go halves on the cost. Maybe even go halves just for all your trouble, even if they cant use my tune.
I'm just fed up with my CEL's and no tuning............and the run around that comes with trying to find tuning solutions........
#47
That sounds great, but how will they be able to extract the tune from your car? And we'll have to get with Psychostevo on getting that fix for the 2.4. All this tuning is just way over my head. I went to Pro Motion today to set up a dyno session next Thur, so i'll get that and go from there. They told me the CEL will take about 30hp away from my engine........I don't know about that........sounds kinda drastic, but who knows. Ahhh, i'm tempted just to sell this car and get something easier and more widespread to make power from! It seems like unless you have thousands of dollars and tuning software know how, then your screwed with this car.........

Tuning is neccisary on any car, and can get way worse in cost than what you are looking at.
If Promotion has HPTuners, then they can get the tune off of King's car, and alter it to work for each of you guys. As far as the tranny tune, I think King is a manual, and you will need the file for the sake of the auto.
Oh, are you planning on putting in bigger injectors? I forget.

TheKingSS: once I hear more from Psychosteveo, maybe we can make this a reality. He said I can use the tune from your car, and have Pro Motion make slight alterations to it, mainly for the '06-'07 year difference. So if I were to pick a day to make this happen, it'd likely be Thursday, June 21st. Im off Thur/Fri which is why I picked that day. My car is getting dynoed next Thur. (14th) so the following Thur. would be best for me. Fri. the 22nd would work too, so just let me know. Thanks again for the help.
