Question Vector Tune

How is the vector tune? I have an 07 2.4 with an Auto tranny and i was wondering If you would reccomend it? I know next to nothing about ecm tuning so im feelin a canned tune would be right up my alley.

I just want my car to drive like a car not like a government regulated beuracracy.

I was gonna do the Vector tune, but someone finally came through w/ HP Tuners for me, so I can finally use the SS/SC injectors and harness i've had sitting in my room for months here soon.

Brandon97Z has the Vector tune and he claims it works very well. Hit him up for some more info.

Also, GTP used to have the Vector tune before he switched to the HP Tuners software, so he might have some good info on it as well.

My Vector Tune should be in this week. I'll be sending her to the Dyno for the results.

I got the tune and I love it. RL increase is always nice, better gas mileage and more pull when getting up and going.

I love it. I would reccommend it!

B/c not everyone has $500 to buy the HP Tuners software + the money to purchase the credits to tune it + $1,000 for a laptop to run it in your car + tuning know-how.

And also, even if you don't plan on purchasing it and you want either a shop or a legit tuner to tune it (then you gotta pay for the credits and for the hours it takes to tune it), not everyone has access to such a shop/person. Its taken me months and months of asking shops and looking for help on the forum to ever get anything set up for my car as far as HP Tuners goes. Even now, nothing is certain, but hopefully everything will go down soon for my car.

If you have loads of patience, HP Tuners will unlock more of the potential out of the 2.4SS. But if you just want a nice tune to get you started, then the Vector tune is a great route to go down too, b/c even w/ the Vector tune, you can always revert to HP Tuners at any time.

I thought Vector locked there tunes, so how could you switch after you get there? Short of sending your ECM back to them to have the stock tune placed back on.

Also it does take awhile to learn how to use HPT's software and how to get the scaner working the way you want. Personaly I am still trying to set up my Histograms for AFR error %

If i was to get my car vector tuned its my understanding that i would beable to get my tcm and ecm tuned for $350.00 and i would have the option to beable to send it back for free to reflash it.

is all of that true?

Kills the warrantee on the ECM and they lock the computer so no one else can get in it.
I think I gained 2-3MPG
I live local so it took me a couple of hours to get it done

My guess is that GTP sent back his ECM to be re-flashed back to stock when he decided to make the move to HP Tuners.

All right that makes since. So GTP bought the software him self, or is someone local to him have it?

Just do a search under my screen name for dynos and war stories. The Vector tune is SOLID. I am going to be a boostie soon so the locked ECM would not be able to be tuned. For a plug and play tuning solution that supports bolt ons the Vector tune is the way to go if you don't know what you are doing with HP tuners. I am local to the Western PA group of guys (Dan and Al) who are HP tuner gurus so my solution was on the wall for boost and tuning.

I actually sold my ECM to Coors through Vector. It's complicated but Vector and Chris White (screen name GTPprix) is whom you should contact. Tell him Jeff (Coors) or myself (George) sent you.

Thanks for the info i think i will get it vector tuned.

All im planning on getting done to the car for now is intake and exhaust and a tune in the near future... I figure that would give me like +- 200 hp @ the tranny like 170ish? @ the wheels that would be acceptable.

I don't think so......

Maybe if you called them and spoke with a rep they might be able to work something out, but I know just going through the standard issue ordering process you won't be able to get them to comphensate for the bigger injectors.
