What shall I do First?!

Hey sup guys! I just bought a black 4d 06 Cobalt SS 2.4l and this is the first car that I really want to take seriously. Because i'm new to the performance world, i was wondering if I could get some directions on what I should do with this car to get some speed It came with Flow master exhaust, so besides that, where should I start, what should I do. A list of things would be awesome, I know i'm putting in a intake for sure, but what else could I do? I'm a noob haha, but Thanks guys, very much appreciated.

Aside from what you have lined up, a set of headers and Downpipe would be nice. And you can also get it tuned. Especially if it's an Auto.....get a tune.

Welcome to CSS.net!

As mentioned above, the basics are always a starting point.

What part of AZ are you from?

Haha jeez you guys reply fast, I'm from tucson az. And I am wanting a Hahn turbo kit in the long run, but not right now, I'm thinking about getting an AEM intake. So I should also go for headers and downpipe? Noob question but is there specific brands for heads/downpipe? And if so, what kind do you recommend? Annnnd will get a tune in Phoenix hopefully in a month or two, and yeah it's auto. Anything else I could do? Thanks not being an ass to me for not knowing anything lol

Not to be nit-picky, but wouldn't that be header? There's only one cylinder bank on an inline 4.

Haha, yeah, Psykostevo, you know Josh with the red cobalt? He told me about your bad ass tune, how much is it? I will probably head down there in a month or so. And, so basically after my intake and tune, I should just get a header and downpipe? Anything else? Besides a turbo, which I will get in the long run lol

Depends on how you see it. There are 4 exhaust ports........but yeah you were being picky.

You can come get the tune whenever you need. I do know Josh, he's pretty cool. I don't think his car is tuned by me, but I can't remember. We used to hang out when the AZ Cobalt group was a lot closer together.

The auto trans tune alone was proven to take 1.1 seconds off the 1/4 mile on a 4-door SS. So you tell me....... :-) I'd say it's badass, and the motor tune is good for 0.2-0.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

basic bolts on are key, thats your intake, header, downpipe and exhuast modifcations, what i mean by that..is insted of spending 500 some bucks for a full cat back exhaust, just ether get a high flow resonator or 2.5 pipe your resonator, 2.5 pipe your 2.0 section near ur rear axle and install a high flow muffler. gets you the same (if not better) gains and half the price.

asides from that and a tune there is not much more you can do with a 2.4..id recommend some kind of motor mount upgrade if you get those, and then all you can do is internals like grinding cams

sup man. nice to see someone else from arizona. i'm about an hour south of tucson, but go there a lot on the weekends seeing as sorry vista sucks! you should go to the in-n-out off of broadway on the weekends. there's two other people that i know of that have cobalts that go. as far as modding, you could go with springs to lower, torque damper or engine mount, strut bar, rear sway bar, meth injection, or start doing appearance mods. the choice is up to you. pm if you want and i'll let you know when the next time i'll be headed up to tucson.

If you are going to get a turbo, then hold off on the header and down pipe because those are replaced anyhow in the turbo. You can put that $600 towards the Hahn kit.

He does not have the SC so most of your suggestions are not going to work for him. How is your exhaust coming along?

The intarwebs did the sound no justice. There are no decent 60's. They are usually around $260 with harness. :-( What size pulley are you running?
