Ok let me rephrase what i meant by it will never look red again. Any time ive used the cleaning kit to clean the filter and oiled it to the point it looked red again even after letting a filter hang over night to drip off the excess (mind you i own like 6 or 7 of these thing from my previous cars) they would still leave puddles of red oil in the air cleaner box.

A CAI is better than the short ram, but just be careful with water puddles!!

I can't believe this is a discussion. Physics is the basic principle. Dense air = better compression=more power. Therefore the cai takes the coldest air...outside of the engine bay and funnels it into the intake. IE) intercoolers, heat exchangers, ram intakes, funnels and so on. Cold air makes more power! Who gives a **** what it looks like as long as you go faster

Just a word of advice... with the K&N oiled filters....

When you clean them... let them dry... and oil to a light pinkish color! No more!!!

True enough for the most part. But SRI gives better throttle responce and The GMPP CAI which is still a SRI and a CAI Kinda is the best of both worlds because its ducted to feed from the same area as every other CAI on the market (just below the headlight). It seals up to the hood if you want a hood scoop later on and the filter is not a PITA to change. Granted the filter that comes with the GMPP CAI is garbage and should be changed asap.

Yah, if you had an open tube. It depends on the manufacturer and how they set up there designs. To many bends in the pipe can cause bad air flow, a poorly made air filter (to dense not allowing enough air threw, or not dense enough and letting water/other debris through.) I had the fujita on my 2.4L saturn and it was shitty. It sounded alot better but performance increase were zero and gas milage was even worse because you cant resist opening it up to here the sound. It also re-used the stock air box which make it less effective.
