Why does my LE5 feel slow?

I just traded in my '03 Cavalier LSS 5 speed for a 2007 G5 GT 5 speed. I love the car but I have to say, it sure doesn't feel like 31 hp more than the L61. actually, it feels like 31 LESS all I had in the Cav was a CAI and an LSJ exhaust manifold.

I'm guessing this is because of the tuning and the electronic throttle body? Will and intake and exhaust/header/downpipe help much? tune?

I have an M62 kit I was planning on installing on my Cav, but I need additional parts for the LE5, so I'm planning on installing next spring. But I'd at least like to get the throttle response and low end on this car bumped up a notch

good answer, didn't even think of that. I may have to push the supercharger install up a few months.

Are you pushing the gas all the way down? I owned a Z24 cavalier and my G5 would embarrass it a 2.4eco is faster then any motor STOCK vs STOCK in a J-body, I have owned every motor. The ecotec 2.4 is the quickest.

the cavalier might feel faster but thats just because its a 2600 pound rolling death trap.

I was thinking the stock tune limits the amount the throttle body opens under certain conditions, that's why it feels like it has no ***** under normal driving. I can honestly say I haven't pulled the engine above 4,000 rpm yet, partly because it feels like it takes forever just to get up that high.

I'll start beating the crap out of it a little more and see how it goes. I've driven a ton of auto LE5 Ions at work, and I could have sworn those were pretty quick. Maybe I just beat on customers' cars more than I should

On the highway doing about 65-70, 4th gear pulls pretty good. You can get up to around 80 in a couple seconds.

LE5 stock tune doesn't allow power enrichment (PE) to come in.............

I never made it to Epping with the LSS. I went up once with my '01 Z24 when it was brand new and it ran 16.0

I bet that's my problem. the dealer filled it with 87 when I picked it up Saturday, I pissed through that by last night and put $20 of 87 in it. I think I have a 1/4 tank left. I'll fill it with 93 on the way home.

my car runs the same using 87 or 93. You can use 87 in the LE5 and be fine.

then that LE5 must be using the low octaine timing tables all the time for it to be the same on 87/93.

I know how you feel. My uncle has a 98 Caviler for a daily driver with 110k miles with 5 speed. It feels so much faster then my aunts 2.2 07 Saturn ion auto with only 50k miles. Not sure if it is faster, but the Cavy does feel quicker.
