Xxx Issues with Braking System xxX

I was going off toping on another thread and I decided that I would create a new thread about problems or issues people are having with their braking system. What ever the case may be please use this section to educate ourselves.

I own a 2007 SS/NA and I had to have the dealer resurface my rotors around 10,000 miles. People have been having some problems getting the dealer to take care of them. I obviously had no issues with my dealer because they rock. Now about 4,000 miles later i am having the same issues as i was before. Although the shuddering isnt as extreme as the first time i experienced it, I will still be taking the car in to have it checked when I get them to change my oil.

It would seem that everyone that has had problems has said basically the same thing that you are saying. They are just a horrible set of rotors.

I didn't even waste my time taking it to the dealer, I worked there when I bought the car and already knew the rotors were crap, so I just upgraded them after I bought the car. I have 15,000 miles on the EBC rotors and redstuff pads, zero issues. GD7265 (11.7") Price: $247.15 (pair) @ http://www.perfectbrakes.com/ they have the SS 2.4 rotors listed incorrectly, select your car as a 2.0 SC, otherwise you well get the wrong ones. Then I hear the hawk pads are better than ebc redstuff, but I will wait till the redstuff wears out.

all i've heard is that the OEM 2.4 Rotors are garbage and to just replace them with some power slot rotors or other aftermarket ones instead of wrestling with the dealearship

Could you rummage through his trash for the rear rotors? Thats cool though, you'll have to tell him the SS 2.4 has the same rotors as the SC, as his catalog is wrong, showing 2.2 rotors on 2.4, then let him use your car to test fit!

My stock rotors sucked way bad too, so I replaced them all with Powerslots and paired them up with Hawk HPS pads. Everything was fine for a while, but then about a week ago my car started making a terrible grinding noise from the front. It took the dealership forever to figure out the source, but they finally figured out it was the front left rotor. The rotor appears to be fine now that its off, but something was apparently wrong with it so I gotta buy another one now. Hm, I wonder if Powerslot warranties their products?

You can have the rotor turned, and I would check the pad for glazing, and if you don't follow the break in on performance pads then they will make noise, period. As far as a warranty I would contact powerslot before turning it, they may want to see the failure.
