Zdeuce4's REVAMPED NA/BOOST build progress thread

MY build isn't as extensive and huge as other people, but seeing as how there's so few people with what Im getting i figured my fellow 2.4's would appreciate some decent info on what im working with.

I'm getting
JBP 2.4 triflow cams
solid ecotec lifters
followed by a Trifecta tune
aem uego wideband

as far as performance i already have
k&n typhoon intake
CA V1 header
XTC 2.5" catless dp
custom 2.5" axle back piping to borla muffler
TTR tranny bushings
Cavy short throw shifter

I read as many threads as i could about the triflows and saw that only one person has really made an actual claim of 212whp with the cams, so I WILL be hitting the TRACK and i do have a baseline dyno already. I also went to the track stock and did horribly.
My baseline dyno #'s are in my sig, and my stock track time was a measely 16.1.. yea i sucked i know

I ordered the cams and lifters this morning so I'm just playing the waiting game till they come in. I got 2 possible installers for em. One of em is my club leader and he's got plenty of ecotec experience being that he has a turboed, cammed 2.2 cavy. The other is the club leader of our affiliate club and he's builthttps://www.cobaltss.net/forums//images/icons/canada.gif his own 2.6l stroked cavy and helped on countless other builds including a 2.2 member on here who is now supercharged, so installation isn't really a big issue. Tuning from trifecta will be simple and is already paid for. so ill update as i get things. im hoping this doesnt take more than a 2 week timeframe. there's like 4 dynos so thats also not an issue. i just wanna finally show wut these cams can do and put all the questions to rest.

honestly dont know how much hp they should net. but im tryna be optimistic. i talked to vince from trifecta a week or so ago and he was saying it should be similar to the gains that 2.2s get from his cam tune. he said one got about 55whp over stock with cams and bolt ons, so i should get in the same area. but after i get em in and tuned ill have the dyno done and hit the traack.

Yeah I am looking at about the same kind of set up but I want to try and avoid taking the engine apart. I am looking forward to seeing you progress, get dynos and drag slips!!!

i was told that cam lash could be an issue and the lifters will eliminate the need for lash adjusters.. something about the stock lifters not being able to hold the triflows at certain times..

i doubt it.. jbp didnt say anything about adjusting them...if that was necessary they would have to put it in the description. if it says it in the package when i get them ill let u know.

kind of off topic. how much are custom grind cams? I know JBP isn't going to break the bank but are there cheaper options?

I was just wondering. I didn't know if custom grinds would be cheaper or not.

Good luck man. I had plans to either do an all motor or a nitrous build, but my car is just wracking up too many miles for me to bother doing anything else with these days. With 58k on the clock, I feel its glory days are gone.

Lol. Yeah I dunno.....after winning two COTM's on two different websites and looking at my car in its glory in those professional shots I had done of my car.....and then looking out the window now at it....and its COVERED in dirt/grime....I just lose hope easily, lol.

It needs new shocks/struts....I wanna replace my scratched b-pillar vinyl.....who knows how much life my stock clutch has on it.....needs a wash/wax/claybar session.....my drivers size mat has a hole the size of Texas in it from pedal wear.....bah, shes a mess. Who knows....maybe once I get back on my feet and get a job and can MAYBE take care of a few of these things, I might change my mind. But right now my car matches me.....down in the dumps, lol.
