Depends on the year. Older 350z's driver's race. Newer ones the 350z has a definite edge.

I only talk about digs, grow up and stop racing from a roll.

Ok well from my experience (only roll racing), I came across 2 350z's. They both looked stock and were both 6-speeds. At the time I had just an exhaust for both of them. One went from 40-100 and I had a car on him. Another one was from 65-120 and I had half a car on him. From a dig, they would beat you by a car or 2 if your stock and he's stock. If you had some mods, you'd eventually catch up to them and probably pass them but on a launch they will most likely win. Hope this helps.

Another good race is an e36 m3. When I was stock, there was a guy with his gf in one. I had my gf as well lol. We went from about a 50 roll but he pulled about 1 car on me at the very end, but throuought most of the race, we were dead even. I belive I took it up to 125-130.

It also depends on altitude, up here the Stock 350Z's slow down some.

Giving a advantage to a SS/SC

thanks alot for that info guys. now the only thing is i have to decide which car will be the best for me lol. I was checkin out the wrx, the rsx-s and obviously the ss/sc. Lastly, i was wondering if you had any input about the ss/sc against those cars?
thanks

SS/SC is about the same with a very very slight edge to the WRX from a dig (AWD) I was actually looking at the specs on the RSX-S and their numbers are really close from 0-40. My experience with the RSX-S though, even some that are modded, when I was stock I'd still walk them on the freeways

Whats wrong with roll racing?? Its more a measurement of a cars actual power without driver skill factored in.

Obviously its not anything official, but a friendly highway race is always fun.

It isn't racing. 2 different cars going at 2 different RPMs one always having an advantage (person honking), it isn't racing.

Also to add cars that trap 100mph have no business going 120+mph. Roll "racing" killed street racing along with the internet. The fast and the furious was the last nail in the coffin.

Thats entirely your personal opinion. Who says cars don't have any business going 120MPH just becaust they trap at 100MPH in the 1/4 mile?? Obviously just you.

It definitely is "racing", and how does one person always have an RPM advantage?? Both cars downhsift to their desired RPM, wait for the 3 honks, and punch it. I don't see the disadvantage there.

Maybe you need to realize that everything doesn't have to be so reginemted. Racing other cars when you catch them from a roll is fun, if nothing else.

I dont like roll racing for obvious reasons. But I would still say its a form of racing. Stock for stock the ss/sc has the edge on the WRX while rolling. You can usually compare how will a car will do just by looking at the 1/4mile time.

If a car runs 14.5 at 102 mph you can tell it doesnt have good traction but has some highend. If you see 13.5 at 96 you might as well assume its a WRX hehehe

It is not racing, it is an excuse for people that are too dumb or too lazy to build or buy a car that can hook.

It is fun in your opinion, IMO it is dangerous and stupid and the cause of MOST "street "racing"" accidents.

The disadvantage is that you are going at a set MPH not a set RPM.

Obviously anybody with a legitimately fast car will agree with me, roll "racing" is a joke.

So people that roll race are "dumb and lazy"?? Way to be an ignorant tool.

How does roll racing cause any more accidents than street racing from a dig?? the majority of accidents happen from people losing control on the launch, and running into people or other cars. 2 cars running side by side on a deserted, straight 4 lane highway is about as safe as you can get in street racing.

Frankly I don't care about your opinion on roll racing, and I doubt anyone else does, so I think it would be best if you kept it to yourself

hey AmericanMuscle, i agree with you on some points and 280, surprisingly, on some points, but trust me no matter how much proof you have he will never admit he is wrong so dont waste your time.

and 280 you are wrong, i have a friend with a "legitimately fast car," which just so happens to be a single turbo supra pushing 19 psi and 500whp soon to be a car pushing 30psi with 700+ whp on race gas, that loves racing from a roll or a dig. it is true that more driver skill is required in drag racing than roll racing, but roll racing is still racing. just because you own an all wheel drive car doesnt mean that the only racing is from a stop

Due to a number of things such as pressure changes at higher altitudes...cars with forced induction lose less a less percentage of their power as compared to n/a cars.

ss v 350z? The 350Z has the advantage..especially from a dig. They run on average low 14's/high 13's. No stock ss will hit the 13's and their average is more like a high 14 second car.

From a roll race, it is closer as the 350z's natural advantage is from a dig as RWD>FWD is diminished, but it is a drivers race. Given equal drivers, I would say the Z would win though.

(non 'vert/base models of 350Z excluded)

ok you are right that different types of car such as NA and FI will react differently to air conditions but you almost made it sound like only NA cars were affected. so i apologize.
however, cobalts are perfectly capable of running consistently low 14's stock, with a good driver, and i guarentee you a stock cobalt will run 13's. i havent done it and dont know of anyone that has, but i am sure it is possible, but i agree that it is not the norm.

and i agree that the Z has the advantage from a dig

No need to apologize

It is probably much harder for the Cobalt to run a low 14 as FWD is really a pretty significant obstacle. Having an LSD is a very large plus, but the 18's the stock Cobalt run on cannot help, and neither of course is the fact that it is a high torque FWD car

I do not doubt that the car can run low 14's consistently, I doubt that the majority of drivers can do that

I have seen a bunch of time slips of 350z's running ~14.2~ with 2.2 or higher 60 footers. Pulling off a 2.2 is not the hardest thing in the world for an LSD equipped RWD car IMHO which is why I say that it has an advantage from a dig, just like you

wow a 2.2 60 foot in a z is terrible, i didnt realize they were that bad from a dig for a RWD. and believe it or not with the stock Balts the LSD isnt seeming to be a huge factor

HAHAHAHA, supras the ones that pretty much started this roll racing crap. 500whp(700 on race gas) car and I bet he terrorizes all the 12 second cars on the streets. What kind of 60' does he pull? I bet he gets broke off by cars that run the same 1/4 miles times on the street.

I OWN 2 CARS, roll racing is dumb.
