single turbo definitely

i wouldnt do STS for a cobalt since you can get a turbo kit and run it off the exhaust manifold and be more efficient

Turbo

Where could I get a turbo from at a good price? I am also thinking about putting a supercharger in my car because its alot easier to install than a turbo. Thanks for replying back man!!

It's a pretty big project IMO to swap f/i. You should fully read each of these links and make sure you understand and absorb everything

I have read these and I got some books.. Street turbocharging Design, Fabrication, installation, and tuning of High-performance Turbocharger Systems by Mark Warner - Recommended to me by the one and only NJHK!

I also bought Turbocharging Performance handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) by Jeff Hartman
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of people piece together supercharger kits and turbo charger kits..
You can get kits from ZZPerformance, Garrett (if you can find)

AFAIK, there is one set of instructions for one specific turbo kit - TubroByGarrett's cobalt kits. They ship with installation instructions for thier own specific kit. There are no instructions that will say insert part A into parts B and tighten for anything other than the Garrett kit. This is like asking how do I get to the Rock'n Roll Hall of fame (OH) from New york. There are many ways I can get to the the rock'n roll hall of fame...like a million. It depends on the choices I want to make how I get thier. I think of F/I as more of a strategy vs this is how it's done laid out for you in 'data sheet style'. Reading those thread above and those books (or really any good turbo book) will give you ideas on how to do this.. and of course when you hit a wall, we're all here

There's a lot more to it but I phear by the time I click sumbit it will be lost to the database anyways... Search my friend!

Their is a guy that wants to sell me a gt-35 garret turbo kit for 1000$. Now it comes with all of the oil lines and intercooler and stuff like that. The only things I would have to buy would be a new intake manifold and a turbo manifold and some bigger injectors right? I'm horrible when it comes to all this stuff so let me know if this is a good deal on all that stuff. I plan on driving to nashville to have a guy install it for me and then have my car trifecta tuned. I just want to know if the turbo will fit on my car?

sorry I said gt-35( thinking I have a skyline lol) i ment gt-32r turbo

Requires a lot more than the parts u listed...I don't feel u should be tc'n ur car, and honestly believe u won't....if you are serious about this...research....research...research...I have the answer to the question you asked and I don't feel u have searched hard enough...

But since this is a sts thread let me save u a great deal of time

-turbocharger
-tubocurarine flange to match chosen turbo
-a lot of piping
-intercooler
-oil gallery port adapter
-a loooooong oil feed line
-a looong 3/4" hose for the oil return
-a external oil pump to return the oil from the rear of the vehicle to the oil cap
-3/4" barb to 1/2"npt brasselbow
-aleast 42lb injectors
-Injector harness
-a lot of silicone clamps
-loads of t clamps
-blow off valve
-wastegate
-be able to make 100% leak free welds

Some supporting mods:
-2.4 intake manifold
-header and downpipe with 1.75" primaries and a 2.5" collector
-2.5" exhaust

I'm sure there is somethings I'm missing...but that's the jist of it...as u see...not as easy as uthough...ur going to spend a lot more than 1000 on this...

Ps I'm typing on my phone so I know it spelled **** wrong

i'm new to this too, however "where can i find a turbo kit" is such an open ended question, do some research, if you're piecing together a kit like i am than try junkyards, ebay, css.net, or if you're financially well off than do it the right way and put a turbo in the front you will notice better results, it doesn't seem much is known about these rear mount kits yet as they are sorta new but it's not impossible, just takes a lot of research. (i've been researching for 6 months give or take and i'm still researching) i may be purchasing a turbo and intercooler within a month but who knows, maybe i'll get fed up and do it the right way, who knows. good luck though
