Are you looking to spend $800 on just the turbo or the turbo and everything else that goes with it?

You should message mongo to see if he has a supercharger kit, that would better fir your price range.

Welcome, but I hate to break it to you. There is no way you're going to turbo a base model for 800, if you want it to last longer than the first drive. Look into a supercharger kit from a lsj (05-07 ss)

More along the lines of just run.

The stock internals can't hold that much power anyways so you would need the engine rebuilt to take full advantage of a turbo over a supercharger. So just buy the supercharger kit and hopefully he's mechanically inclined to install it by himself. If it's a manual trans he'll also need a new clutch if it's an auto I'd recommend at least a transmission cooler.

There are many other things that are needed for example a basic trifecta tune is going to run $250 and there are the gauges and the injectors if they don't come with the kit.

Realistically if you bought him the kit for his birthday and he put it on and did everything himself i'd expect it to cost at least $1500 total (but probably more) and that's including him installing the clutch himself. It's recommended that he get supporting mods after that which is mainly just a header and down pipe which he might be able to pick up used for a deal but it's still going to be a few hundred.

Unfortunately $800 doesn't go to far into cars, for example I've spent over $1000 just on suspension and now $1600 for a 5 lug swap, Brembo brakes and Ion Redline Wheels.

I have a turbo kit I picked up for a great price but I'm still going to be into it at least $1500 with all the parts and that doesn't include the clutch I really should install before I put on the turbo (not to mention the addition of what I'll pay if the turbo needs to be rebuilt but at the price I got it I didn't care if it needed to be rebuilt).

Not gonna happen for 800 need a tune that's gonna cost 250+ for the tune alone let alone all the charge pipes inter cooler, manifolds, intake, and the turbo it's self

Yeah, you are better off doing gift certs at a tuning shop for him, than buying cheap parts that will wreck his car. Your heart is definitely in the right place but you won't get anything good turbo wise for under $800. You could get him the full engine back exhaust for that however.

didnt know a ls was heavier than my ss. at least not that much heavier. and with a stock ss there is still room to grow too. its not just buy one and oh im done its fast :-). in the coming offseason ill be putting a good bit of money in mine to make it quicker and grab the track for once.

They're stating that the SS is heavier than the LS.

After you put on all the parts though I'd think they'd both be around the same weight.
