The Official RollermanDan Build Thread UPDATE 5/21/08 PG 3

I know it's been a long time since I provided any sort of update on my engine rebuild after my nitrous backfire.

As of today 8/1/07:

I just purchased Wiseco Forged 8.9:1 pistons, Eagle Forged 2.2L connecting rods, Cometic Head gasket, and ARP head studs. All said in done $972.99 for today. I still need to find a good price on the Ferrea Valves and Valve springs.

Whole block is to go to a machine shop Friday to check and see that everything is in check and then I can start doing the rebuild.

FINALLY, the Cobalt shall breathe again.

Not that any of you are actually interested...just an update.

I've finally got something else to update on. MODS if you could please make this "Official RollermanDan Build Thread" please. Some of you may know that I'm currently building up the car to go racing. With a lot of work to do and parts to come in, I wanted to share with you all the progress of my build. As of last night, the interior was stripped from the car. While this is going on, I'll be building up the engine according to the GM build book. More parts are to arrive Friday, seems like Christmas is coming early for me!

Now onto the photos, and I wanted to thank those of you who have been supportive of me in this build. I'm just glad something is finally starting to happen since my nitrous backfire back in March (yes, the car has been sitting that long). The good news is I will have A LOT of parts for sale coming up soon.

Welcome to my garage!

A view from the front of the car through the windshield.

Photos now follow of the gutted car.

The head with the ARP head bolts in.

Note: this will not be the head used to race and will be switched to a sand casted head.

Now with the head off...

The new Eagle connecting rods!

That would be the harness I got for it. It's actually pretty neat if you ask me.

I was going to say, you're reeling in parts pretty fast but then I see that you've been down since March, lol

**** I hope my motor never takes a **** or I am fucked (from the apparent long ass down time that accompanies a blown motor)

Well for the longest time I didn't know what I wanted to do with the car...make it a race or just keep it to the street 100% of the time. Now I have a set idea as to what will happen so many parts have been ordered.

So what's the plan, street sleeper or all out race? With those internals you could go either way.

The plan now is to make it run low enough number to race in the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Series. What we are aiming for is to do something like the Jason Whitfield set up where he can still drive it on the streets yet run 9.5 at 150 in the 1/4mile, and still keep the interior.

if your going all out at least put in racing seats and a 4-5 point harness. dont race a 9 second car on a stock seatbelt lol.

but anyway thats ****** crazy man, i saw your vid on youtube a couple times made me decide to not get nitrous. and if you get that turbo set up with those engine internals you will be making a lot of safe powers

(dont forget to get that power to the wheels!)

That's what my sponsors come in handy for! It wouldn't be possible without them.

As for the seats, these are them (2):

And here's the seat belts in blue:

And of course this for added safety...:

For traction: (Jason uses a system from them)

Thank you for the info! Even though it's a tad late and you already know of what's going on now...

If you haven't seen my sale thread, I'm selling the engine that's in this thread fully built, ready for boost. Hopefully someone can take it off my hands.

I'll try to keep all of you as updated as I can.

Here's another update despite it being a while...the engine is "refreshed" and things should begin to move now. Here's a photo of it:
