No clamps. No real drag racing suspension yet. Rear is jacked up with drag bags at about 40psi and I'm running a 24.5 slick @10 psi. Front and rear on V. 3 Powell Springs.

I'm going to try mini footballs. I've heard of guys running bags, but turning them sideways, so they didn't have to cut anything.

I'm running the bags you have to mount sideways. Both bags are plumbed together and valve stem is easily accessible inside car. I think the football idea is OK but sound like a PITA to adjust pressure ect.. The extra money for drag bag setup is worth not having to deal with getting under the car to make any adjustments or check pressure. My setup consists of slicks, drag bags, control arms are locked down with cabs and traction bars. Trans has OTTP upper mount, zzp lower mounts and stock engine mount.

Picking up 3mph in the 1/8 should translate to some nice top end gain in the 1/4 considering how much better the power carries. I'd be shocked if you didn't go bottom 12's at 115+
Great job on the brace/trans! Looking forward to more updates

Thanks! Really really want 11s on this setup. Probably setting myself up for disappointment but hey, the higher the goal the more ambition I will have. The problem is, I probably won't be able to stop until I have a 10 second HHR lol.

Several reasons but mainly I don't want to make it a full on race car. The safety equipment requirements are more than I want to deal with in this car. It still has only 33k miles so I would have a hard time cutting it up ect. Really want to build a rwd transaxle setup so I could find a hhr shell and go that route too.

The part# is Airlift 60776. They are designed to be used in vertical OR horizontal configurations. It has a separate set of instructions for each instalation configuration. You can still mount them vertical in our springs with some work but nipple will be facing downward. That is on my "to-do" list because I want to make bolt-on height limiters if I mount this way. Will likely remove bump stop entirely.

I am very interested in this Trans update! I just got my car, last owner had it dynoed at 446hp, it is currently under the knife, hoping for 500! Any updates on 1/4 time let? The Trans in the car is a lsj non lsd, so it doesn't blow up as fast, I would love to make the Trans last with out going to the f40!

I wish I could really show you guys some awesome times but I just don't make enough power yet to lay down wicked ET. I will be happy with an 12.0-12.1 on this setup. Possibly 11.9 with an even stiffer rear suspension. Either way, it will be consistent and will lay down 1.8 60' every single pass.

Hey Levi. My next scheduled 1/4 mile race is the Ethanol Nationals in Kearney NE on July 29-30th...BUT I can't wait that long. I'll be throwing the slicks in the back of the HHR and driving 6 hrs to and from the track AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Was gonna trailer it but I'm not worried about the trans breaking anymore or anything else really I wish I could really show you guys some awesome times but I just don't make enough power yet to lay down wicked ET. Hey guys. I need to thank all of you for your support through this current brace design and R&D process. This thread, all of the PMs I've been receiving, and the inevitable positive results from this brace structure, means a great deal to me and gives me the motivation to sacrifice my time to offer this transmission option to our community.
Keep an eye on this thread for build updates!

Sorry for the delay fellas. I moved to a new place the beginning of July. I now have a perfect area inside the house to build trannies but some sacrifices had to be made elsewhere. My garage was pretty much a glorified shed with a garage door. No walk-in door, no electricity, and structural integrity was questionable. Some of you may know I've recently had engine issues. Cylinder 4 is at about 75psi and has a consistent misfire and burning a little bit of oil. I have a BNIB LDK sitting here waiting to go in. I couldn't postpone the garage build for trans shop as I need to get my car running and racing again. The good news is, it's almost done. All I have left is to run electricity which should hopefully be done this weekend. Plans are to have car running and race ready by August. When that happens, I can continue setting up trans shop. The idea is to have separate work areas for each phase of one trans build to make operations organized, efficient, and precise. Precise fitment of the brace is crucial. Because of this, all braces will be fitted by me via CNC. So, if you wanted to build trans yourself or send it to someone else, I can just send out the bellhousing with brace already fitted. Or the entire build can be done by me. Several other options will be offered for my builds as well.
