If someone wants to start a new thread, I'm sure many of us HID guys would be pleased to help out.

I would love to have projectors on mine however i cant afford that right now nor do i have the knowledge maybe when i get the money i can have someone make me a set...i have 8k hids in mine now...thought id try out some 12k bulbs so went on ebay and got some, put them in and they were ****** hot pink!! So gay lol they had to have sent the wrong bulbs or something i felt like a damn flower going down the road so i put my 8k's back in lol...for the ppl who can do a retrofit whats a ballpark figure of what everything would cost including labor?
I've never under stood this philosophy.

uhm...ok?
so much for anyone ending the rant and asking a valid question then lol
and so much for someone having their own opinion no matter how much u disagree with it
i figured as much...how does it make it easier to aim??

I don't think that is the reasoning behind it because my projectors, the left side of both beams are slightly lower than the right. It is something dealing with the inside of the projector itself and how it was built. For example, the HID's you see in Nissan that change colors, that is not the bulb, it is a metal piece in the lense. If you bend the lense you can create different colors in the top of the beam. But people don't know that so they go out and buy these rediculously high K HID's thinking that is what it is. But anyway, my point is, is I think it has something to do with how they are actually built inside and not done for a reason.
The change in color of the light is due to the shape of the cut-off. Mercury (who's a wiz with this stuff and absent from this whole discussion) actually gave his cut-offs a slight bend that created a purple hue at the stop of the light beams. The rest stayed a nice bluish-white.
supposed to be.

ROFL, by that post alone shows you have no idea what you are talking about, I mean if you don't even know that... it shows you've done absolutely no research... not very surprising you want to stick 30k HIDs in a stock halogen reflector. And you will argue till you are blue in the face that you are right

So if you don't have the money for projectors why would you waste the money on regular HIDs that aren't what you want, can be dangerous, and look worse then what you want? Why not just save the money up and get projectors instead of dropping x amount on regular HIDs?

Well i already had the hid's in my gtp and took them out when i traded it in and put them in the cobalt they're both 9007 bulbs and when i had bought the hid's for the gtp i never saw anybody retrofit projectors so i really had no clue about it yet otherwise i wouldve just saved for projectors

Color was brought up earlier .....the color flicker is just a natural result of the beam passing over the sheild and the lens , while u can mod the sheild for more color ....OEM's dont . The sheild is just there to create the beam pattern not the color .

Yea, that's the metal piece I was talking about. But as for my reasoning on the other thing I said about the "kink" or w/e you want to call it. I saw a Lexus and the cutoff line for the car was just a straight across line. No kinks at all.(unless I just missed it somewhere) Also, the Evo IX HID projectors have a very very small kink in theirs. But anyway, thanks for clearing everything up.

Theres small differences between all the maintstream projectors with the z or kink . My Euro E55 cut off is a bit odd , the US version E55 is shielded a bit different and is much sharper .
Heres my cut off as requested earlier . The combo of a blurry pic and the car being too close to wall doesnt make for a good representation . Its the only one I have though

lol ur forgiven cuz that was some crazy ****...and for the record id never advocate going any higher than maybe 8000k...anything more is just a waste....The 6ks in my car car look pretty close to OEM which is also why i left the halogen bulbs in the fog lights...cuz whens the last time u saw HID fog lights on a car from the factory?

The 3000k's are actually a 4300K with a yellow filter in the bulb. They don't sacrifice light, like other filtered bulbs though.
I'll probably add this to the sticky, but here is a comparison of 4100/4300k bulbs to 3000k bulbs in the fog.

The stock fog projectors work fine. They have a nicely designed cut off in them.

I'm not sure if they were BS-ing or not, but someone had mentioned in another thread that the Cobalt and G5 trunks were a bit different on the bottom.
Better safe than sorry.... and out the cash...

i also wanna swap on the rear lip with the mesh inserts cuz they basically match the front grille
