BIG INSTALL DAY! 56k beware

well 2 months ago some ******* hit me, and ran. so i got stuck with the bill. so to keep the bill way down, i did the installation of everything myself. took me 11 hours today to:

wash and dry the car
debadge one gm thing, "pontiac","g5" "gt"
take the hood off
take the bumper off
take the wheel off
take both headlights out
take the wheel well out
take the fender off
clay bar the car
compound the car
wax the car
install fender
install wheel well
install HID's
install front bumper
install headlights
install upper grille
install hood
install wheel
make sure everything checked out fine

all in all it was fun. I kinda enjoyed it. got to see exactly what was broken or missing. here are the pics

the damage from that *****, he got the headlight, fender, bumper and hood

my parts and my brothers parts

everything taken off

fender on

waxed

debadged

everything done!!!

i guess i have to take custom dent out of my sig now

i dont have collision so my car isnt covered under my policy, the truck was stolen so that insurance wont pay, and they didnt catch the guy.

Im guessing the tails are night shade, sanded with a 2000 grit and buffed with a professional buffer, thats how mind are done and they look like they where made that way

my car is a 2007. paint fades over time, so it will never match exactly. it isnt far off trust me. the camera just made it look that way.

like teh other guy said, i niteshaded them. i did 2 coats of niteshade, with 2 coats of clear, with a 2000 grit wet sand between each coat. i recently wet sanded them again and added another 4 coats, wet sand between each one, then with the last coat, i layed it on real thick and used a blow dryer to dry it before i got runs, then i waited a week for the paint to cure, hit it with a polishing compound, then today i waxed them

thanks heath. i put i about a day into them (with drying time). only thing im mad about is when i was debadging, all the gunk was left so i used a razor blade to scrape some of it off, and it slipped and cut my paint in the pics of my ass end, if you look in the bottom right of the trunk where the gt should be, and on the trees reflection, there is a white speck

try to buff it lol also use goo gone for the debadging process thats what i did and then buffed it.

so with the lights just spray how ever many coats of vht and then wetsand
spray a few coats of clear then wetsand and polish?

i didnt have goo gone i thought i saw some, but it was empty.

for the lights, do medium coats, let it dry for 30-40 mins in the sun (probably less for you down there lol) and then wetsand with 2000, then repeat until it builds up, then for the last coat, go heavy while holding it parallel to the ground, then blow dry it so you dont get runs, then let it dry a bit more. dont polish for at least 4 days. i did it 4 hours after i finished and mine smudged and had to wet sand it down again. so just put it on your car for a bit then polish and youll be good
