Blacking out taillights

I am wondering which paint is the best to use when blacking out your own taillights. I've seen some that look very nice and some that look really bad and i don't want to mine to look bad. Any advice is greatly appreciated guys.

3-4 coats of regular black paint and 2-3 coats of clear coat on top of that!
