Finally! Striped Center Console with Lots of pics
ok so here we go.. finally had time to sit down and do the center console tonight... from about 5 till 9 beginning to end...
keep notice... i wanted the two areas that stayed black to be used still so i left the grainy look, and did NOT flow the stripes onto them... above cupholder, and below ebrake.
Yes i plan on doing the glove box, and keep in mind our center consoles do NOT flow perfectly down the middle... notice neither do the stripes... so dont say its off flow lol
well here she be.
pop the piece off starting from the Ebrake.. away from the stereo.
work towards the stereo to get the second piece.
Once you get it up... do not pull it out yet... push from underneath untill you get the cupholder to pop loose, then push from underneath the boot on the shifter and the boot will stay connected to the shifter.
now dont think that piece is ready to go yet... you have two cig lighters that need to have the wires un attached. after this its a free to go piece.
now you should have both pieces.
and your left with a hole.
start sanding.
apply PRIMER first, then you can start with your first coat of color....(skip this part unless using it.)
tape off desired area to keep Color #1 (yellow for me.)
***HINT*** to all rookie painters... if you are using two or more colors always aplly base coats in lightest color and add darker layers... in my case it would take more coats to cover black with yellow, than it would to cover yellow with black. ******
Apply Color #2
pull tape and start to clear coat! very important.
