well 12 hours of sanding and filling and sanding, and fiberglassing and im STILL NOT FINISHED WITH IT. lmao. Just got in now, the top is almost done, sides are where i want them, tommorow i just have to make the bottom of it smooth and blend it into the bottom of the bumper, the guide coat the whole thing and sand it with a high grit sandpaper to kinda "perfect" it. make sure theyre no high spots or wavy lines cause when the trunks painted black youll see every flaw

And I decided im going to be going silver flake instead of gold. So hood roof and trunk will be black with silver flake, and maybe a coat of orange candy layed over it. Rims will be black with silver flake, etc. The rest of the car will be the candy orange over silver, and i may put some flake in that too but i gotta do a spray out to see how much it brightens it up. i dont want it too bright

One dirty ass trunk

Getting there. Tommorow is the bottom. And looking at the pics i realised the right side is thicker on the end then the left side. So now i have to decide if i wanna build up the left side...or shave down the right side?

I would shave down the right side. Its prolly easier to keep it straight and level that way instead of building the other side up.

I think thats what ill do. I think i like it a bit thinner on the sides. But honestly youd be suprised. Thats why this is taking me to long b/c it started thick and i have to keep shaving it. Everytime you shave fiberglass to far you get holes in the fiberglass and soft spots, then you have to dynaglass them to get there strength back and then sand it flat. Its a pain! lol. but Ill get that done tommorow

I know how it goes! I have been restoring a truck, and I am working on the cab corner, where the previous owner just threw in a flat patch panel, beat it a little bit, and filled the rest with bondo. I am in the process of welding it up to bring the metal out so I can use less bondo than the other guy. I spent 6 hours on that alone today.

haha My teacher Sean says that **** all the time. Im not scared of bondo, but you dont wanna use too much of that ****. Id much rather get the metal as close as I can first, as it should be, but i know guys who spend 3 days with a hammer and dolly on a 1/4 panel.

getting rid of the fart can? Its about time, I never did like it from the start. I thought about it couple of times getting one on ebay, but I'm not going to waste my time with the exhaust, except for the downpipe is all i need to be set. I like the body work so far, keep going.

I dont mind the fart can all that much, and i loved it when i got it and i still kinda like the import kinda look. Its not a make or break thing to me, but now that im painting it i want that **** to look as clean and sexy as i can get it.

UPDATE AND PICS!

Well started today with the trunk lid of course, was filling and sanding the bottom when i just said **** it, its time for me to put this down and start something else for now. And the pictures will tell the rest:

Can some1 do a me a favor if they get a chance? I need to decide how i wanna do the rims. Can some1 take the 2nd pic up, shop the car orange and black, shades of orange arnt that important so dont worry, and just try different thigns with the rims. Black with an orange lip, black with silver lip, all black. etc.

I went to Wyotech for $30,000. $900 seems like a bargin. I might have learned a tad more and a much better hands on experience.

Probobly did, but it's a community college and the only school that offers autobody for hourss. We got a pretty good program. I mean iv done most **** id ever have to do so far, iv done all over's, touchups, pulled frames, measured cars, Mig welded, ummm...and other ****. A couple guys in my class moved here from 4 hours away just to take this program. I get my degree after this summer, still gotta take plastics and adhesives, insurance estimating, and Heating and AC. The autobody and Mechanical classes are seperate. I could go into the mechanical program and take engines and trannys out of cars and build engines and **** but thats another year of school and another 1800 bucks. I plan on moving in august so im not going to get into that, although it would be nice. Iv never ripped apart an engine before. Just bolton's

Your classes probobly tought you more about paint specifics with materials and ****, and we did that last semester for a few weeks, but then for the past like 6 months iv just been in the shop pulling, hammering, and painting. Iv had so much hands on I can tell im alot more confidant painting now then i was a few months ago. But if you ask me alot about specific paints and ****, or start throwing brands and **** at me, I have no idea. Ill learn that when I get there.

Edit: just googled Wyotech and that **** is nice. They teach you pretty much everything. Lol. Looks like a great program. Did you get a good job right from there in autobody/automechanics?

alot of guys take the class just to paint there car and then bounce, and usually they leave by the end of the semester with a primered still dented piece of **** car becasue they dont wanna put the time in to do it and do it right. I mean people always wanna do crazy ****, like fiberglass a spoiler on there car out of styrofoam

One guy brought in some POS and wanted to chop the top and lower the roof on his car, and we said that if he can do it and get it to line up on one of the doner cars then he can do it on his car. Needless to say he fucked the doner car up and never finished it and never came back
