You will need to change the bulbs out from the 9007 base bulbs you have now for the stock housings to whatever the new headlights require for bulbs(most likely H1). I highly recommend 3B Specialties for bulbs. they are a supporting vendor on this site.

Something you should know!
That if you have th projectors, you'll have to dremel the insides to get the bulbs to fit through!
I didnt know that.. had everything a apart and couldnt get the damn bulbs to fit!
Have to take off about 1-2 mm of metal to get it in. Just a heads up to someone getting HID's.. they are sweet though!

I have a quick question and this may seem dumb but hey I'm a woman who loves fixing up my car and want to do it right. anyways with that said. i have a set of Chrome Halo headlights and was talking to a local shop about a HID conversion kit for my car and they said i would haveto use my factory headlights that i couldnt use the halos is this true? thanks

35 watt stuff is cheaper, and generally just as good.
No worries about the lenses.
The wiring though... all HID should be wired up with a separate power wire, and a relay. Although HID's consume less power overall... the start-up 'ignition' can over power the factory wiring.

If you do a HID swap or retrofit, can you still retain the use of the automatic lights and daytime running lights?
Also, if you get a projector with the movable glare-blocking plate that allow more light for the high beams, do you only need that one bulb for both high and low? What do most people do for high beams? What seems to be the nicest setup?

You cannot use daytime running lights because they are high beams at half power. You only use one bulb for high and low now on the cobalt. Ud have to get a high/low beam HID setup. Theyre not that much more expensive than a regular setup anymore. Most people just get the low beam HID setups if they put them in factory housings, im not sure what the projector housing guys do as I dont own a set to see what they offer.

Yeah, I'm definitely going the projector route. Probably the E55 or FX35 projectors, but I'll see if I can score something at a junkyard for cheaper.
If I were to go through theretrofitsource.com and get their kits (complete with the retrofit wiring harness) would I still be able to keep the automatic lights? I love the fact that I don't have to remember to turn off my lights when I get out, and that they automatically turn on when I unlock my car.

I can retain the automatic turn-off, but I can't retain DRL?
How do I de-activate the DRL?
