Interior door handles
Has anybody painted the interior door handles? The chrome is peeling off and bubbling and I hate it. I don't want to wrap them in vinyl because it will happen again eventually and spray paint rubbs off if you use it enough. I have automotive paint I could use but honestly I haven't even looked to see if they come apart enough to get it painted right. I will be doing gloss black to match the other trim and maybe over the summer I will be doing the roof in suede, just don't like the idea of painting the rubber around the sunroof and the plastic pillars. I can never find a paint that matches the oem look of factory plastic.

My door handles are doing the same. Never had the problem when I owned my 2.4L
Would be hard to do for those who are out of their bumper to bumper warranty like myself.

you can paint anything just take your door panel off and there should be two screws holding the handle on take the handle off and just sand them down and paint after you take the ugly chrome wrap off
man i love my cobalt but they are made cheap would it of been that much more to get them chrome dipped so they wouldn't peel

U can take the handles right apart the handle
It's self comes right out to paint every inch of it
And
To paint your pillars to match the interior
Black interior trim, use dupli color flat black vinyl and fabric paint, almost an exact match

Cool thanks, I wasn't sure if the actual handle came off. It's too cold to do it now since my garage isn't insulated but I will be doing this in the spring. I think if I do decide to do the headliner I might install a dome light too. Donald is right, you would think at leastfor the SS they might have gone the extra mile to make the car better than a base model....not chevy!!

I painted mine about a year ago and they're holding up perfectly...even better than the factory chrome I think. I just used some left over duplicolor wheel paint and clearcoat I had. It matches my rims and the graphite finish of the factory dash trim. I'll try and take a picture later.
